WARNING! This thing killed our beloved cockatiel!

False advertising that their Plasmawave does not produce ozone is complete nonsense! At first I couldn't believe it. My boyfriend and I bought this product to help with pet dander as cockatiels produce insane amounts. He was a very active, happy and content chick who is only a year old and we thought this product would help, which it did as we kept him running 24/7 next to his cage on automatic. I was concerned about ozone air purifiers during my research and came across this product that…

MAY BE HARMFUL - Air Purifier

Ionized Air Purifiers are tested to no more than 50 ppb of ozone generated, they are not tested to 0 ppb. Ozone is harmful to health. When purchasing an air purifier, I found various forms of misleading information about a single filtration step called ionization (plasma, ion). It's true that if you create a strong electric field, you can strip electrons from particles like dust to electrify the dust and therefore be attracted to the anode plate instead of being collected in the air. The same…

UPDATE 2/25/19 Better air quality

The reason I bought this air purifier was my mother. She has severe allergies and to make matters worse we just rescued a cat. I am willing to try anything to reduce my mother's allergies. I first went to Costco looking for a Dyson Pure Cool air purifier. They didn't sell it anymore, but they had the Winix C535. I bought it because I was desperate. I brought it home, pulled it out of the box and removed the plastic cover on the filters. That's all. Turned it on and it cycled through air quality

Best Bang For Your Buck

I've been looking for a new air purifier for almost a year, doing research here and there, trying to find a unit that meets all the requirements I'm looking for. I need a device for a larger room, with automatic function, replaceable filters at a good price and good looking to match my home decor. A recent 80,000-acre fire sped up my research, as the area is (and still is) blanketed in a thick layer of smoke every morning. All in all, the Winix 5500-2 met all my requirements. The device arrived
