Big set of charcoal sticks

Some of the small sticks have snapped but that doesn't bother me at all. They are long and nice to draw with (not soft or hard, just perfect).

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Can hurt

Wide range of widths

I am taking a drawing class and after examining a small packet of charcoal I decided to buy this pack. Good choice. There is a range of sticks and there are 3 or 4 different widths to choose from.

Pros
  • The wood is properly fired to give a smooth line with constant intensity
Cons
  • The string is shorter than other picks

At first I was a little confused how to use it; I've always tried to do finished drawings and they crumble into dust that gets blown away and smeared. BUT now I know how to use them to sketch the original layout under pressed charcoal (or whatever) and the powder rubs off so easily that drawing and cleaning up is MUCH easier than with any other material. Now I use them for almost everything (charcoal portraits, conte, paintings, etc.), but only as a first step. They break very easily but are…

Pros
  • Thin area; Average; and thick short sticks
Cons
  • Long delivery
