Practice and you'll reap the benefits of sepia

As this is not pure black, ink density may vary slightly. Light lines are browner in color, and thicker strokes are noticeably darker. If you know how to use sepia ink, you'll be fine. The glass bottle feels very pleasant and is very stable when you dip the handle into it.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

Good color good choice except black ink

I like the color of the ink but I think it could be darker. It seems to be fading a little, but not much. I use it to practice with my slanted pen and it's nicer than the black sumi ink.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...

A great choice for professionals who love sepia ink!

Pelican Sepia Ink has been a staple of my career as a humorous illustrator for many years. When the pelican was hard to find, I took a chance with Winsor & Newton Sepia Calligraphy Ink. I preferred it, if only because it is much more waterproof when dry and I can freely paint over it with watercolors. Recently, running out of time, I bought a replacement from my local Blick store, where I found it was only available online. I thought I might as well go see if Revane has it. And so it happened…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

Well diluted good for painting

Nice brown, right between warm and cool. The fact that it's not waterproof can really be the deciding factor for you. I like the fact that I can thin it out and get the line as thick or as thin and light as I need it. I mainly use it for drawing and the small value difference looks really good. It lends itself well to the charming handmade feel and hides flaws well with its blurry nature. This is something I couldn't do with Indian black ink, which just made my little messes painfully crispy…

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Expensive
