Excellent viscosity

Excellent quality product for developing my watercolor painting. It has the transparency that watercolor paints should have and a handy bowl for mixing paints.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Negative impression

Fussy set, very good paints

Paints do not come in rigid containers - they are individually wrapped making opening each one a tedious task. The box itself is difficult to open. The Windsor and Newton colors are excellent and they alone are the reason for my five star rating.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • May cause injury

Awesome for beginners!

I love this watercolor set! I'm a total newbie but I wasn't happy with the quality of an inexpensive Artists Loft set of watercolor pans I bought from Michael. After searching the internet and reading many reviews this set seemed good for beginners. The colors are so rich and vibrant! My only complaint was that two colors, red and yellow, were unmarked. Looking at the inset I think I figured out what the colors were, but without the actual color names on the mugs I can't be sure.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Anything to add

Easier than painting, drawing and art tubes

I have always bought watercolor tubes and inevitably only re-moistened the dried colors I used. I spend a lot less with this set. I use it for work and also consider myself an artist but I don't do professional traditional watercolor work so this review is for beginner, intermediate and non-traditional users. I specifically draw landscapes or parts of them, scan them and edit them digitally. The only downside is that you have to leave it unfolded to dry and it's hard to move when there's…

  • Positive only

  • Newer model could have been chosen

So I already knew I would be happy with

I was really looking forward to the delivery of this product. I have a bag set of Winsor Newton watercolors so I already knew I was going to love the pigments. It was delivered on time and in good condition. All but one of the pots are labeled with the name of a color, making it easy to refill when they run out. The case is a little difficult to open, but it is better than opening it on its own as the pots are quite loose fitting and easy to fall out if knocked over. It has a fold-out mixing…

Good pigments but bad packaging.

The colors are smooth and vibrant, but being new to painting I can't quite tell what's wrong with the green and blue. Suffice it to say that the blue ones look the same, but there are only two green ones, one of which is blue. Pans are inconvenient to handle, since there are gaps between them. I don't see the logic behind this design. As a result, the pans move constantly, stick to the stir plate or fall off when the lid is opened. I stopped arranging them based on the order of the patterns I…

Pros
  • This watercolor set contains 24 pans of Cotman watercolors: Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red Pale, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Red Deep, Alizarin. Always my top choice

This set gives you the warm and cool base colors needed for most paintings, plus some colors that are just nice to have (e.g. Opera). The colors are bright and smooth, blending well and offsetting well. I bought this particular set because of the size of the case and the large mixing space on the fold out pallet. I was wondering if the little plastic hinges would be strong, but so far they're holding up really well, and because they're plastic, cleaning is quick and easy.

Pros
  • The box itself is made from lightweight plastic and has a removable lid and tray for easy cleaning and handling.
Cons
  • Not sure
