No genie in a bottle - buy something else - some antennas - my only answer

Arrived very very late. A complete garbage. This antenna looks fantastic. It tunes on 2M, 70CM, GMRS, FRS, 10M, 11M CB, 6 MTR, 4 MTR, all with low SWR. It's insanely good. Sounds good too. Oops, that almost doesn't resonate. Although I can hear (receive) the simplex signal 4-5 miles away, it is transmitted within line of sight. That means you can talk to the people you see. Defeat the radio target. I believe it should have a built in resistor to give insanely good swr/vswr readings. Well heard,

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Ideal for stationary use; Terrible interference while driving

I bought this antenna as a cheap way to connect my existing radio to mobile devices on 10m and 6m. SWR within acceptable limits with a well grounded, adjustable "trunk lip" bracket on the tailgate. It's nice to be able to work with a 6m repeater and a 10m and 6m simplex while driving. HOWEVER, it has an awkward habit of folding up during movement. During a 30-mile drive at speeds up to 60 mph, it folded up somewhere along the way (the radio was off, so I didn't know until I got out of the car).

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Interchangeable

Works well in high ranges, needs adjustment if you want low ranges.

Out of the box (with solid base) the shortest tip construction gave me good results at 2m and 70cm. 6M is not very good. I was able to get good results even without grounding, but with a much higher SWR. After trimming the tip about 40mm I was able to trim it just enough to get balanced performance across all 4 stressed areas as well as "useful" at 1.25. M, but not very well. If you don't have access to a good tuner you can probably get pretty darn close results by setting the tip to 19.5mm…

Decent antenna, few defects

I get a decent SWR on all 4 bands with this antenna. Make sure you mount this as high on your car as possible and keep it clean. I tried mounting it on the side and couldn't get the SWR below 4:1, went on the roof and got better than 1.3:1 at 10m, 1.2:1 at 6m, 1.00 :1 at 2m, 1.2:1 at 70cm. The folding feature is both a blessing and a curse, great for low clearance areas, easy to lift and fold, but on the negative side, when driving off-road, bouncing around resulted in the antenna collapsing…

  • Robust design

Not as advertised

I bought the HH-9000 quad band mobile antenna for use with the new TYT TH-9800 quad band radio as it was advertised for use with this radio. PROBLEMS: 1. No user manual. 2. It arrived without either of the two set screws on the base part. 3. For the past 3 weeks I've been trying to tune the antenna to resonance in different bands and lowest SWR using NanoVNA with 101 data points. However, the specs call for an SWR below 1.5:1: by fitting the various segments from longest possible to shortest…
