I bought the HH-9000 quad band mobile antenna for use with the new TYT TH-9800 quad band radio as it was advertised for use with this radio. PROBLEMS: 1. No user manual. 2. It arrived without either of the two set screws on the base part. 3. For the past 3 weeks I've been trying to tune the antenna to resonance in different bands and lowest SWR using NanoVNA with 101 data points. However, the specs call for an SWR below 1.5:1: by fitting the various segments from longest possible to shortest possible, the best readings I had were: 420M-450M: inconsistent and dependent on tuning attempts on the lower bands; 144-148M: SWR increased from 3.2 to 1.69 and 4.6 across the range; 50-54M: wasn't resonant and was above 9 until I removed the highs - then the SWR dropped from 4.3 to 5.6 (but the impedance varied from 32 ohms to 118 ohms across the range, while the frequency segment was not approximately matched up to 50 ohms); 28-29.78 M: The best SWR was 3.7 to 5.6 across the range, and both SWR and impedance were highly dependent on coaxial motion within the vehicle. The measurements were carried out on a stationary vehicle. I didn't take this phone with me, so I can't respond to reports of a weak folding spring causing the antenna to fold when driving on the freeway. Diamond. (Revain accepted the return of this item.)
