Two defects before I could install it. The headphone jack is used for USB power, and you could just firmly plug in the USB cable. If you fully insert the plug, it will not receive power. You have to pull it out a bit. The cable to the box has a rubber cover that sits on the side exposing the cable. Poorly. I tested the device about 8 times and right after switching from USB to battery. it soon stopped working. It stopped blocking and I couldn't reset it. Good idea. but it is not reliable.

This thing works amazing when you open the box and it sits on the counter, but the tolerances are too tight for that. Using the professional plastic shims that come with specific spacings, I raised the latch 1mm and it's still too low, I raised it 3mm and it's too high, I have two 1mm Washers stacked to raise it 2mm and it's almost perfect but the latch doesn't work. I love the idea of locking my closet with a padlock that is invisible when closed. The RFID reader did an excellent job of detecting the opening card from the outside of the cabinet. It is almost impossible to install on a box, the installation diagram is useless. The screws you receive are big and might damage the bedside table. The included USB connection cable is about 1 foot long and when connected to the battery you will hear an annoying buzzing sound. I spent 3 hours installing it. Product exactly as advertised. You get an RFID reader attached to a very simple locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is spring loaded and will force the bolt out, which can be useful or inconvenient depending on the application. You can power the lock with either a (very short) USB cable or two AA batteries. The USB cable is USB 2.0 with a 2.5mm bipole by default, so you may need to look for a longer cable.
