I'm obsessed with keeping my knives sharp. These are excellent belts that are essential to the grinding process. I use them for the final sharpening of all my knives, from Japanese knives (Shun knives with a 16 degree blade angle) to Bowie knives (with a 25 degree blade angle). I've tried leveling, they work fine and last a long time. I could use a leather strap but I don't think the blades would become sharp after using these straps.

The manufacturer likes to boast about how easy it will be to sharpen knives after you buy this machine, what they don't tell you is that sharpening with these belts and these sharpeners is a nightmare is is, it doesn't seem to end. The worst thing is that these straps are glued together with a closed loop that makes them wobble and makes sharpening a game of keeping the sharpener steady. Terrible belts, terrible car.

Well, I've had a sharpener that works normally for about 5 years. I really liked the sharpener as it makes the blade razor sharp. The stock straps required some work to get the edge that sharp. Now my knives aren't made of steel, which is easy to sharpen. I have modern super steel blades with M390, VG-12, 20CV compounds. These are very hard steels and it takes a lot of work to sharpen them when they eventually become dull. After a lot of work, the sharpener always has a good edge. Now enter Ken
