They are SHIT. As other one star reviews say, they are falsely alarmed for no reason. I had to turn it off for the first week after installation because it wouldn't stop turning off even after I took it down from the ceiling. I am replacing numerous detectors due to a new law in Maryland requiring sealed 10 year batteries. First Alerts had the best rating so I ordered 6 - one for each bedroom. I simply loosened the screws on the old detectors and removed them, and in about 2 minutes each, without drilling a single hole, I installed the new detectors using the existing hole locations.
