Very disappointing Best in Parts

I had an oil leak in the filter area after my wife ran to the grocery store. I made sure everything was ok and refilled with oil. I was away on business but there is still an oil leak. I bought a competitor's product and removed the Fram filter. Went to the store, no oil loss. I think it was a failed o-ring and found the filter to fall apart after only 30 miles.

Good filter for Toyota 3.5L v6

Let me start by saying this is the only fram filter I use and I have nine cars. I'm not a fan of Fram filters at all and I usually buy Wix. However, this filter is an exception. What makes this filter great is the wire mesh reinforcement. It also has lots of folds and is just the right size for the engine. Every other filter available for my application falls short somewhere. I am using this on a 2016 Toyota Sienna with a 3.5 liter V6 engine.

One of the best filters on the market

In my opinion this is one of the best filters on the market. It features a fully synthetic dual layer media with a metal backing to keep the internal structure of the filters in proper condition when the high mileage oil drain interval is met as intended. I'm a techie myself and have used many filters over the years. K&n, Microguard, Mobil 1, Wix, whatever. I would pack it in my car every time. Another really good Wix Xp filter. Used on Lexus is350 highly recommended.

  • Decent performance

Good filter/replacement OEM

This oil filter is probably better than Toyota's OEM and much cheaper. Some of the FRAM is junk, but this filter is of great value. I checked the oil and this filter seems to work as well if not better than the Toyota OEM filter. If you use Revain's subscription service, you may need an additional filter. They didn't send me new filters twice because they were out of stock. The filter is said to have "Proven 15,000 mile protection", but I change it at the factory recommended intervals.

Better than the competition

I've always been wary of fram filters. Lots of hate on the internet. Fram Ultra, on the other hand, seems to be much more respected. I usually buy Purolator Boss filters but decided on the Fram Ultra for my wife's 2011 Toyota Highlander. I was impressed by the size difference between the two brands and now have my doubts about the performance of the Purolator filter. The information on the inner diameter is the same, so both filters fit. Fram has a double layer of synthetic filter material and…

  • Nice thing

Works on my 2019 mountaineer

I don't waste my time changing oil at dealerships because sometimes they 'find' other things that they 'recommended' to fix even if your car's mileage is lower. I used to change the oil myself but to be honest collecting and disposing of the oil later on was just a mess and just a hassle so instead I just buy what I need and pay the local mechanic about $20 for it. In any case, the higher quality Fram filter seems fine (although the normal filter is pretty bad, so never use it on your cars)…

  • Absolutely amazing!

10,000 Mile Efficiency Verified by Blackstone Labs Oil Analysis

I use this filter on my 2013 Toyota RAV4 with Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy fully synthetic oil and I use a 10,000 mile drain interval. I have asked Blackstone Labs to do a used oil analysis at the end of a 10,000 mile drain interval. Analysis showed that the filter and oil combination met specifications and showed no signs of abnormal wear. The insolubles rating is well below average, indicating the filter will do its job up to the 10,000-mile mark. Also, the AP-03 Gold Plug magnetic…

Good filter with some weaknesses.

Good filter but there are some disadvantages. Installed on my 2015 Highlander with Mobil 1 0w20. The plastic part that drains the oil from the filter is threaded and screws into the filter housing where there is a metal plug that you remove with a 3/8 socket. I had a hard time matching the plastic threads to the metal filter housing. No wonder, as plastic is usually difficult to align on a metal thread and the plastic thread will interlock with the mating metal thread. As a result, the filter…
