First of all, these things are tiny. They fit snugly into a standard USB cable. It definitely doesn't work with a standard power cord or anything. Second, they are very difficult to open.

Only suitable for thin wires on USB devices. They will not work with higher quality and thicker USB cables. They should work fine with thin speaker wire. So FYI

Very disappointing. i will return it You must have a very thin wire for it to fit. nothing at 20 Gage or more will do. The images create the illusion that any wire or thick wire will fit, but that is not the case.

Yes, these are ferrite cylinders. However, they do NOT fit into any USB or audio cable I've ever seen. Let that be a lesson for me, and if you make the effort to read this, you will too. The description clearly says they are 3mm. but the description says that they are suitable for USB cables. 3 millimeters = 0.11811023622 inches. That's 1/32 inch. Approximately the size of this zero is 0, but it's on me.

This worked great for my application. This eliminated noise from desktop speakers connected to the monitor (with audio coming in via DisplayPort or HDMI from PCs and Macs). As already mentioned, they are suitable for small diameter cables. I was worried these chokes would slip off my audio cable but once on they are perfect. My audio cable is a regular stereo cable with a 3.5mm plug. The thickness of the cable corresponds to that of the plug end of a wired cell phone in-ear headphone.
