If it works, it's great. But a design flaw leads to failure.

Charger works but has a fundamental design flaw. The center conductor on the stator is connected directly to an ESD sensitive P-channel MOSFET. If you charge this conductor statically (e.g. by touching it) you can damage the MOSFET and cause the green LED to be on all the time. This causes the loading function to fail. To fix this there are some YouTuve videos showing where to remove the MOSFET and replace it with a less sensitive MOSFET, as well as where to cut the conductive layer on the PCB…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not the best

One of the many problems with Yaesu is that they are cheap when it comes to accessories. Want fast charging? The included FT3DR charger is too weak and lasts all night. Do you want to control without using a battery? It's a shame that the included charger can't handle the power consumption of the radio. So you need a fast charger like this one. But remember, in true Yaesu tradition, they don't contain a CD-41 wall wart. This charging station uses a low-power FT3DR charger, but only for slow…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Price that breaks a piggy bank

Great price for an original Yaesu CD-41 desktop charger

I took the chance and received an original Yaesu CD-41 in the unopened original packaging. Great price for this charger that works with my new Yaesu FT-2DR socket. Also charges in the car when using the Yaesu EB-13 DC plug. Bought the same quick charger 2 weeks ago along with the FT-2DR from the Nationwide Ham Radio store for $39. You would think I would get a break after buying a new expensive radio. Although shipping is free with the radio, it's all about the price. So now I have one for the…

Relatively expensive accessory for the FT2DR but seems well made

new FT2DR with radio or charger. As the technician suspected, the charger was fine and the charger charged the radio from the cradle. I will wait a further eleven months before sending the radio in for service as the defect is relatively minor and something else could fail by the end of the warranty year. Yaesu Cradle is 2-3 times more expensive than Chinese FT2DR Cradles. It does look well made though and unlike some of the Chinese stands I've had for other radios the FT2DR fits the Yaesu…

  • Very expensive

Good Base Charger for FT3DR Yaesu Radio

There are some negative reviews on this product indicating DESIGN flaws. I agree that these shortcomings should be addressed. Yaesu is known for high quality products. Their prices reflect this. When purchasing OEM items at OEM retail prices, the product is expected to be free from defects. A NOTICE. This charger does NOT come with a mains transformer. You will also need a Yaesu SAD-25B. However, this charger is perfect for my FT3DR. It's heavy and won't tip over or slide around the table like…

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • Communication with Seller

I must join the growing list of sad CD-41 Rapid Charger users

I am sorry to have to join the growing list of sad CD-41 Rapid Charger users. My charger stopped working (solid green) in less than four months. And usage hasn't been heavy - I've used the charger less than 10 times between the two batteries I have. At this rate, fast charging costs me $135/year (with 4 months usage that would be 3 chargers/year and $45/charger -> or $135/year). Needless to say, I am NOT happy with the quality (or quality control) of the Yaesu products at this point. I was…
