Yakima SKS Security Cable 9 Foot Review

Good length, easy to tie together for more reach. The ends are small enough to push through the kayak's drain holes. The addition of SKS lock bars is a plus - crossbars, kayak holders and cables all on one key.

Works well if you understand that you need an SKS lock core that fits into the lock body at one end. We did it, takes seconds to install, and it works as expected, keeping the sand stairs on our Tacoma landing.

Actual lock set not included, it shows keys but it reads fine print, their excuse is that an extra lock set comes with a pack of 4 locks for different purposes, DAH supply at least 1 set of locks, a complete rip off, go locally to buy a cable and lock if needed

The cable lock uses the same lock as the bike, hitch and trunk. I bought a set of 8 SKS locks for my Yakima. I use this to wrap the bike racks that are on the rear bike rack of the trailer. Feel a little better when you quickly go out to dinner and get out of your car.

Works as advertised. I love the fact that I can use the same SKS lock cores as other Yakima products so I don't have to mess around with a different key. I am not giving 5 stars because the photo clearly showing the lock cylinder installed is misleading as the product does not come with a lock cylinder (although I was already planning on using the one I already had) and hence what I did really think the cable should be a little thicker.

I usually love Yakima products. Other than that, this cable is good, but as others have said, it's thinner than expected. I'm sure it will do the job, but like most cables, nothing is indestructible. Use it to secure your bike to your trunk/car during the day and short nights when you are in a safe area. Would not trust this cable for security reasons alone. The SKS system works flawlessly as usual and my 15 year old core jumped in right away.

I ordered this cable with a Yakima stand and other accessories. It's hard to find a cable lock that's long and thin enough to lock bikes in and close the sunroof at the same time. This cable is expensive and does NOT come with a lock and key despite the picture. Locks must be purchased in at least 2 packs for $24. My fault for not seeing it in the description but didn't realize it until I installed the trunk the night before the trip. Good thing I ordered another shorter cable that actually…
