I bought this lens as a simple alternative to use with my full frame Nikon digital and film kits. If your expectations are not too high, this lens should tick all the boxes. Not for high resolution or art.

First let me say firmware UPDATE, auto focus didn't work. With a USB update on the lens, this works great for the price. There's 50mm, which is great and works great. I received this the other day and just played around with it a bit. Absolutely useless without updating the firmware, and this was not an easy task for me. I had no luck with my MacBook, but I did the same on his Windows PC. He said he couldn't find instructions in English so it was difficult but he managed. What do I like about it? I like the size and weight of the Yongnuo 40mm. It's very light, like other pancake lenses; Nikon is missing something. Yes, it looks like plastic, but I don't care as long as it works well enough. What I do not like? Relatively slow to focus, even after a firmware update. It's okay, but don't expect to capture a fast-moving subject with this lens. It also doesn't cope well with dark environments. Compared to my Nikkor 50mm 1.8G, the 40mm can only keep up in good light.
