When heated in the sun they are not strong enough to accommodate a side mounted paddle. Maybe everything is fine with the mounting on the deck.

Rod holder ordered. The holders were too small for my saltwater rods so I used them for larger rods. The handle on the first stem is 1.25 inches in diameter. The second picture shows a 7/8 inch diameter red/yellow rod. These clips do a great job!

So far it has held up given the quality of the product. It holds my paddle securely and hasn't slipped yet. They open up for transport so I don't recommend stacking your kayaks on top of each other or at least right on top of the clamps but overall they hold up.

Easy to install and flexible plastic. This requires a kayak paddle but requires some effort. It's not just about getting in and out. It gives my kayak a profile and often loses its shape but regains its original shape after some time in the sun. Update: after a year of use they became brittle and I had to remove them.

Bought these to hold the long pool brush and net holders vertically on the wall. The clips have two small screw holes for attaching to the kayak. I drilled a 3/16" hole between two small holes to screw them to the wall. They hold my lightweight aluminum rods well to the wall but can be easily removed for use.

I installed two of these to hold a kayak paddle. Almost useless. The paddle comes out very, very easily (the paddle is a Field & Stream Chute)... basically it just falls out. In addition, the material is very soft and it is not easy to snap the paddle. The clamp wants to collapse rather than picking up the paddle if any pressure is applied.

These clips get very soft in temperatures above 70F. At around 80°F they are so soft that the paddle will fall out at the slightest impact unless they point straight up. When I say soft, they are really very flexible and soft. The paddle is difficult to insert into the clips due to the softness, they just bend inward.
