Easy Home Water Pressure Tester

Home appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and refrigerator/ice makers are rated for operating pressures below 70psi. If the service water pressure is higher, a pressure reducing valve is needed to reduce the pressure of the water entering the home. After a while, dirt from the water and other factors will cause the valves to stop working properly, which often means the water pressure will rise above a safe limit. Good caliber, but use a lot of Teflon when assembling.

You need to do 5 full turns of teflon tape around the male part of the gauge before you put the garden hose adapter on it and then pull it all the way down, it seems you can't turn that any further or it stops. This was the only way to stop the leak. The main reason for the leak is that you have a steel fitting and a brass fitting, both of which must be the same material, which is why I gave four stars. Also refer to the label on the side of the gauge for drilling a vent hole in the rubber plug

Now I have used air filled gauges in all my previous projects and each time they lasted an average of about 5 years before leaking in the water and rusting. I need a pair this time to keep an eye on the DIY inline fertilizer injection system and will try these oil filled YZMs to see if they last longer. So far I'm impressed. And yes, as mentioned in…
