More range than the previous model

More range than the previous model. There is an oddity in the Z-Way server UI that makes it seem like it's broadcasting on the spectrum licensed for Z-Wave in Russia, but it's actually US mode.

Pros
  • Beautiful view
Cons
  • Old

Requires Google and manual effort.

Other reviews say the obvious. It's not plug and play. If that's what you want, explore some complete Zwave systems. Connected to Raspberry Pi 3 using Raspbian and Openhab. I'm not a zwave fan, but Hubman was pretty straightforward in adding and managing the zwave network. Side note. Lots of pins for Razberry and Nrf attachments.

Works great with HomeSeer

Used with a Raspberry Pi 3 with HomeSeer. Works great for controlling Z-Wave devices. Not really recommended for beginners unless you can find a guide as the documentation doesn't explain how to set up HomeSeer with it. No big deal, I think I added the Z-Wave plugin, then the Z-Wave node, type "internal" and it worked right out of the box. At the time of purchase, this was the cheapest option for the Raspberry Pi Z-Wave.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

. I hate giving one star, but software distribution requires you to install either an outdated Rasbian distribution or a third-party installation of an old version of the SSL library on top of the current one. The site has almost no support outside of the forums. Came claimed to be on the "RU" frequency, even after finding the magic key to tune it to the US, he did not complete interviews with devices with Leviton and Honeywell switches about 5 feet away.

Well built module but missing a key Z-Wave feature.

I bought this module to replace the module used in my HomeSeer HS3 system. Did my first test and that would be fine. Plugged it into my main system and found that while you can back up your Z-Wave network settings, you can't restore them. What good is a backup if you can't restore it? The ability to restore the network is the main feature of Z-Wave, because without it you will have to delete all your devices and add them again. On a large system, this can take several days. I have submitted a…

Great product and the only ZWave controller that works with HomeKit

Was up and running in just an hour. I recommend using the Razberry OS image from z-wave.me instead of the generic NOOBS or Raspbian OS from the official Raspberry Pi website. The Razberry OS is slimmed down and small making it easy to install and comes with a Z-Way server pre-installed. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had trouble getting a couple of my devices to turn on. I ended up activating them all but it took a while while on my other ZWave controller they were…
