In some cases it works well, in others it doesn't.

Real cheddar (hard, white) doesn't slice, but crumbs and confetti. Probably great for a cheese like Jarlsburg, but not so good for brittle cheddar. But well designed.

Pros
  • The blade is flush with the edge of the tool for safe storage
Cons
  • Mostly ok, but...

No Swiss/German product anymore; Don't expect old "old " Zyliss quality

Works well and as intended. Sometimes softer cheeses need about half an hour in the fridge to set so thin, even slices can be made. Zyliss has always made good products, although not as durable after moving production to China.

Pros
  • Ergonomic design for comfortable grip and ease of use
Cons
  • poorly thought out

I have used Zyliss products in the past and they have always been of high quality, this slicer is no exception. Initially, the slices were thicker in the middle and thinner on the sides because the blade was slightly curved (see image). The blade of a cheese knife should be very thin to reduce friction so the knife can be easily pulled through trees without breaking. It was easy to fix. I wrapped sports tape around the tip of my thumb so I wouldn't cut myself if I slipped. Then I gently pressed

Pros
  • Adjustable wheel allows you to slice very thin to thick cheeses
Cons
  • High price

Absolute garbage good for cheese tools

This unit does not do what it is supposed to due to failures on several fronts. It's set very roughly, and the smallest setting still gives a fairly thick cut. The blade wheel wraps the cheese around itself when the slice is small enough or the cheese is soft enough and shreds the cheese into small pieces by contracting. Even long cuts are not possible because the wheel gets clogged with wrapped cheese. At high settings, it breaks cheese more than it cuts, meaning no matter what you get, you're

Pros
  • Stainless steel lip ideal for making small or large portions of cheese
Cons
  • No automatic
