Real cheddar (hard, white) doesn't slice, but crumbs and confetti. Probably great for a cheese like Jarlsburg, but not so good for brittle cheddar. But well designed.

Works well and as intended. Sometimes softer cheeses need about half an hour in the fridge to set so thin, even slices can be made. Zyliss has always made good products, although not as durable after moving production to China.

I have used Zyliss products in the past and they have always been of high quality, this slicer is no exception. Initially, the slices were thicker in the middle and thinner on the sides because the blade was slightly curved (see image). This unit does not do what it is supposed to due to failures on several fronts. It's set very roughly, and the smallest setting still gives a fairly thick cut.
