ZyXEL C3000Z Modem CenturyLink Renewed Review

I bought this modem because our old modem was a bit slow, about 10 years old. Then I installed a new one and had the worst internet ever. So instead of spending $100 on a crappy modem, I put my old one back in and sent it back. I won't buy it again, sorry for wasting my time.

I was surprised when I set up the modem for my DSL because my credentials were already there! So it was very easy to set up! The speed is really good and stable! I was also pleased to learn that as this is a Revain Renew product, Revain offers a 90 day guarantee. I think the whole setup took about 15 minutes because I changed the SSID, WiFi password and DHCP IP address to my old router settings so I don't have to set up my devices again.

Not plug and play. It took quite a long chat with a Centurylink engineer to get it working. After starting I had no problems (about two weeks). However, the "like new" look was exaggerated. The case had many scratches and minor damage.

The only reason I got a refurbished car was because it was made by Revain. Great return policy, thank goodness. After a while it went back to normal. Ethernet worked, but Wi-Fi was unreliable from the start. 5 GHz was weak and then disappeared altogether. My range extender (also dual-band) wouldn't connect, and when it finally did, the signals kept dropping. Something is wrong with the transmitter or antenna. I think I'll stick with my only band for now. At least it works.

My c1100 router gave me about 1Mbps. Replacing with c3000z it was great to find that I get 13mbps with the same internet connection. Highly recommended

The power supply burned out. The device could not be switched on. This is the first time I've had issues with an updated product, although I've heard some horror stories from others. After replacing the PSU, I couldn't change the SSID without locking the device.
