What is Bither

Bither is an open-source Bitcoin wallet for iOS and Android, developed since 2014. A phone can run it in Hot mode (online SPV wallet) or Cold mode (offline signer); the two communicate by QR codes so the private keys of a Cold wallet never go online.

Questions and answers

Is Bither self-custodial?

Yes. Keys stay on the user's phone, and in Cold mode on an offline phone that signs transactions via QR codes.

Is Bither open source?

Yes. The Android and iOS apps are on GitHub under the Apache License 2.0.

Which coins does Bither support?

Bitcoin only.

Where can I download Bither for Android?

Only as an APK from bither.net; Bither left Google Play on 27 May 2025, and apps there using its name are a fake-wallet risk.

How voting works

Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
