Coinbase Wallet: A special Wallet
Coinbase Wallet has nothing whatsoever to do with keeping cryptocurrencies purchased on the Coinbase platform. It is an application available on iOS and Android. The app was originally called Toshi and has been renamed Coinbase Wallet. Very innovative, the project plans to add multiple functionalities. Coinbase Wallet is not intended to play a simple role of storing cryptocurrencies like a traditional wallet. It offers:
1. An ETH wallet to buy and manage your ERC 20 tokens, collect rare digital assets (non-fungible tokens), pay with merchants accepting cryptocurrencies, and make transactions with anyone around the world
2. A tool to easily participate in airdrops and ICOs
3. A browser for decentralized applications (dApps)
4. Encrypted encrypted messaging
The application does not have access to any client funds and therefore resembles a software portfolio. Private keys are therefore stored directly on the device and are not managed centrally. Private keys are thus secured thanks to biometric authentication technology and the secure enclosure of the smartphone.
