It is a fake. DO NOT USE.

I used them to check some items around the house that I was worried about. Then I checked the coil of LEAD solder. It came out NEGATIVE. No hint of pink or red. It's a fake. Don't trust the results.

I bought these to test old earthenware for lead.

I bought these to test old ceramic utensils for lead based on a question answered by 3M Social Care who is listed as the manufacturer. However, the packaging clearly states that these products will only detect lead on painted wood, metal, vinyl, plastic and dust. 3M Social Care has indicated that it can be used in a slow cooker, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I will return them.

Don't worry, just buy them!

We recently had to test for lead because our childhood analysis showed traces of it. What we thought was an epic disaster turned out to be a very simple fix when we deployed it. We were able to test a small number of things he plays with or is around regularly. It ended up being a faucet on an old tub with legs and we were able to replace it. Values are normal and we didn't have to sell the house and move as I've heard some people have to!

The best tests on the market

They helped me find the source of my 2 year old's lead poisoning. To my surprise, he was tested for lead during his 2-year check-up and found high. I used it to check everything from toys to dishes. These tampons were great value for money and I recommend everyone to have them handy at home. No blood lead level is safe for children and I was surprised it was in my dishes! If you have kids and have something Chinese or non-American, buy these tampons! I also had to throw out my old mixing and…

Lead Lead Test

PROS+ Easy to use+ Comes with a test sheet to make sure you're doing the test right+ Customer Service # Really works. I called because I thought it was odd that the packet said it contained lead, so I called to see what was going on. It turns out that the test paper has a small amount of lead printed on it, so you can see what the dreaded test result looks like. If I'm paranoid about lead, I really don't want to open the packaging of anything that has lead in it. Maybe put the test paper in a…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

I have a "color disorder" - I'm not color blind, but red and green seem a bit duller than others to me. From the instructions, I expected the results to look "yellow" or "red". Instead I found that the negative result looked yellow-orange and the positive result looked rusty (see attached photo). Example: To get a clear negative test result (no lead), follow the instructions for a test, but do not touch anything in that test. To get a clear positive test result (which likely contains lead)…

Not sure if it worked and it also ruined my ceramic mug

I bought these because I was given ceramic painted and glazed 70's Tiki mugs that I was told were made of may contain lead in paint. So I wanted to check if that's true or not. From the answers to a few questions about this product on Revain, people have said they can use swabs on glazed pottery. When I used a tampon on a cup, the surface of the cup turned pink but the tip of the tampon did not. So I'm not sure if this means the paint (or glaze) actually contains lead or not. Even if the mug is

Useful for finding poison in your house

Expensive but useful. I use it not only to inspect the structure of my home, but also to detect lead in household items. Some surprises: A negative sample can become positive after eight hours when dried on lead ceramic tiles and in a bath. What a disappointment to know that newer homes still use lead products in the bathrooms! Good to know when renovating. Downloaded a negative onto a brass door hinge that should have enough lead to recognize it. The positive smeared on a few dust particles…

They seem to work - All Purpose Cleaner

I bought these to see if my 70's built house had been painted with lead paint. They work under ideal conditions, but for the average user the results are not accurate. Each swab is a plastic tube with two glass vials inside. The outer paper tube covers the plastic for safety. You squeeze the tube to break the vials; They break easily without undue force. After shaking to mix the two liquids, squeeze it a little so that the liquid comes out at the end of the tampon. Then rub it into what you're…
