Got my Grand Am back on the road

I came with instructions but I watched a YouTube video before attempting to install. I also came with Keyhole Lube. This saved me from paying a locksmith who asked $150 just to come and do it. Very important

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Ideal for lock cylinders

There are many toggle switches in the package so you just need to arrange them in the same order as your old cylinder. Reassembly was easier than disassembling a damaged cylinder. Just remember not to put the bottle in the outer case until the seat belt is connected.

Pros
  • Pretty package
Cons
  • Frequency

My chip has failed. I replace the case with the chip and .

Used this part to replace the pass lock chip. My chip has failed. I replaced the housing with the chip and reinstalled the original lock cylinder. Program the key onto the chip and the car is ready to go again. The lock cylinder comes with everything you need to code with your key, with instructions. I didn't have to install a new lock cylinder. 99 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Some flaws

missing parts suitable for spare parts

This is not an original cylinder. This is an aftermarket cylinder that requires toggle switches. I wanted this specifically so I can fit an OEM key cylinder. Unfortunately the packaging was sent open and the lube and cup holder were missing. I tried to get a new one but couldn't. Revain returned the item and I chose a different repair route. I don't think sellers should send open packages unless their contents have been verified.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some errors

Good part, but also needs a switch? sigh.

Despite recent reviews that they got new keys and not new mugs to recode, I've decided to just reuse the old mugs when needed. The instruction videos I watched were for cylinders with large toggle switches and springs, so I was a little intimidated to see how tiny mine were. I fixed the electronics a bit and have pretty good dexterity and patience so I went ahead undaunted. A couple of toggle switches were quite difficult to get out of the slots in the cylinder, but I ended up pulling them all…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Nothing here

ACDelco is a great piece!

This ACDelco D1493F part contains 2 parts needed to completely replace the ignition switch and cylinder. I hope this can solve my Pontiac Grand AM warning light issue! The security light is on. About 4 years ago the dealer charged me $425 to fix it once. Now the light is on again. Everything you need to code this ignition lock with your key is included. I coded it in about an hour while teaching my son how to do it. Car keys are not included. There are many lock pins, springs, and lubes to…

Pros
  • This is awesome
Cons
  • Only available in black

Fixed security light not starting issue

Pontiac Grand Am ignition lock cylinder is known to have failed. This is the second time I've replaced it after about 100,000 miles on my 2002 Grand Am SE1. It happens like this: your car suddenly won't start. It will still roll, but to no avail. The electronics still work. Problems with the fuel pump can be ruled out by tapping the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber mallet. If it still won't start, it's probably the ignition switch. You may also notice a security indicator on the dashboard.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Vulgarity
