Received pair of defective shoes, support was not helpful

Got them before the race and before leaving the country. Received them with the tread detached from the sole. Manufacturer support advised me to contact Revain, Revain advised me to contact the manufacturer. The back window closed before I got back into town. Now I'm hooked on these shoes that fell apart when I unpacked them. Hoping someone requests a refund which I have kept asking for.

Pros
  • I LOVE everything about this shoe. The wide tip makes it very roomy and comfortable. These are the only shoes I wear now.
Cons
  • the sole came off by itself and of course the return line is closed

Lookers, not makers... in my review.

Great lounging shoes, but the tongues on these devices rub the hell out of my talus... or my lower shin - whatever the front of my ankle is. This only applies to runs. Suitable for walking, fitness training and short walks. It really shines, like all three last mentions. I wear them with joggers on both business and leisure walks as I have a pair of Altra Solstice XT 2 for gym work.

Pros
  • Shoes fit like a glove, soft and light on the foot. The shape is like your foot! I recently ran my best 5K. Not bad. Good price.
Cons
  • Hacking takes too long

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Too small! in my rating

Blue insole from my Altra Lone Peak 6. Black from Torin 5. Both say they are the same size...10.5. I was expecting the toe box to be a bit smaller because individual heels are known to be wider, but two shoes from ONE COMPANY are so different in size that it's ridiculous. In addition, the processing quality of these sneakers does not come close to the quality of individual peaks. From now on I will definitely stick with Single Peaks. Very disappointed in these shoes

Pros
  • This is my third pair of Thorins. I love the shoes there.
Cons
  • Super easy to break

After 3 miles of running in low-cut socks, the tongue can damage the skin. The shoes are great, but the tongue design is an absolute must. If Altra sees this rating, please use it as constructive feedback. I don't want people turning away just because of bad articulation. The shoes are 90% great. I had to make two cuts on the tongue on the sides of the logo to allow the tongue to come out when the ankle was flexed. This adjustment has allowed me to walk with no tongue issues, but as a customer…

Pros
  • Very comfortable and perfect for my wide feet and special needs.
Cons
  • Not strong enough for a long time

The shoes fall apart and your tongue cuts through your foot.

I run about 5-6 days a week and alternate between this pair of shoes and another pair of Saucony running shoes. Saucony is doing well. This couple is already getting holes in them. And as others have pointed out, the tongue is like a knife. I don't know what they were thinking when they were made. I didn't want to use them for about two weeks. Over time, the language began to wear out. But for about two weeks it was such a nuisance. I first bought these shoes because they had a wide toe box…

Pros
  • Durable materials for long-term use
Cons
  • May cause blisters in some people

Lightweight and super comfortable

This is a shoe manufacturer that thinks about your feet, not just any design. They're like walking barefoot, just protecting the bottom of your food from rocks and things you bump into. You have to understand that most running shoes improve your healing and put you in a forward stance. If you are not used to walking barefoot, it will take you some time to get used to these shoes. If so, your feet and toes will love you.

Pros
  • The best for my 5k runs
Cons
  • Why is the sole separating

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality, the best in my rating

The shoe was comfortable but the pad continued to separate from the sole. I've had to re-stick them many times and it's frustrating for me that Altra got to it. Last year I bought another model for work and stopped wearing it after 2 weeks because it started to creak between the layers of soles. They were then turned into running shoes at 130 yards. Bad streak from a once solid company.

Pros
  • This is my second pair, overall I love the Altra brand.
Cons
  • Some people may feel cramped

Great shoes at a great price! Super fast delivery!

They had sneakers which I love. Unfortunately the manufacturer stopped releasing this style but I was able to get them at a great price! Definitely recommend.

Pros
  • Ease of movement and quick release
Cons
  • The finger box may be too small for some people

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very handy in my review

With a wide toe, my feet feel more "free" and my toes move more easily. The shoes are very comfortable. This is my first pair of alts. Highly recommended!

Pros
  • Available in different sizes
Cons
  • Can cause sprained ankles with sudden movements

Technology reduces comfort

I've had different versions of the Torin and this version is still good, but technology gets in the way of comfort. I find the toe box to be tighter and the toe counter at the front catches a bit on my toenails.

Pros
  • The shoes feel nice, are comfortable, but are definitely half a size larger.
Cons
  • Too tight around the ankle and tongue. No flexibility like my Torin 3. Can't wear it.

The tongue of this shoe is poorly designed

The tongue of this shoe digs into the top of the foot. Badly designed. I can't believe this show was allowed to come out with such bad design. Otherwise the show works well but the tongue makes the shoe unwearable.

Pros
  • I bought 3 pairs. I need a wide sock and they are perfect for me. Very convenient.
Cons
  • I'm not happy that I need my child to get another pair

Good, as expected in my review

Have used this line or walking shoes daily. Several pairs have burned down in the last 7 years. They hold up as well or even better than anything else I've found. Will probably buy again.

Pros
  • Extra toe room
Cons
  • May cause breathing difficulties in hot weather

2 MONTHS UPDATED: Runs small - order one size up!

UPDATED REVIEW 2 MONTHS OF USE I've reordered a size up (I usually wear a 10.5 sometimes 11 like laceless Vans but I needed a 11.5 in these) and love them! They are very comfortable to walk on, lots of room in the toes. However, after two months of light use (average 1 mile per day, just walking, NEVER running) they are already showing signs of falling apart. I expect more durability and higher quality from a $100 shoe. As can be seen in the photos, the upper already has a hole, the tread has…

Pros
  • Minimalist design offers more flexibility
Cons
  • Not compatible with some types of socks.

Altra Thorin 5 is good for me

Love these shoes very much. Fits great on my feet. I like the sock in the shape of the foot. Lots of cushioning. Exactly what I was looking for.

Pros
  • Offers an excellent balance of comfort and performance
Cons
  • May not provide adequate traction on certain surfaces.

Worn out quickly in my rating

I love the fit of these shoes and bought alterins to see if they would hold up better. Have used this shoe for 3 runs, less than 30 miles and the outer front tread of the shoe is already starting to wear down to foam. You should be able to run 200-300 miles without a pair of shoes, right?

Pros
  • Adjustable lacing system for a secure fit
Cons
  • The heel can wear out quickly

What a disappointment after the latest model

Other reviews speak of the cheap craftsmanship of this iteration of the product, and I can vouch for that too. I buy a lot of shoes and this has been my biggest disappointment so far. How, Altra, but how?! You did well. My family and I have had dozens of your shoes but we have never seen such cheap quality. I didn't even walk in these shoes and after a few months the sole started to peel off. They are so thin I call them my "slippers". I had to use shoe glue tonight to make sure they last at…

Pros
  • Promotes a more natural stride
Cons
  • Cannot be machine washed

Perfect for my rating.

I've been running Altras for several years now. This shoe used the original wide foot shape which fits me better. Some other Altras use a more traditional foot shape that requires me to go half a size up.

Pros
  • Reduces the impact on the feet
Cons
  • Not suitable for people with wide feet

Tongue cuts ankles best in my rating

Tongue digs into ankle. I think they replaced it to save money but that renders the shoe useless. i will return it It doesn't look like previous versions, it just looks similar, not as detailed - not much different from other brands.

Pros
  • Large size options for different foot sizes
Cons
  • May be too heavy during exercise

Altra Thorin in my mind

I've always liked this Altra Torin more than any other shoe because it has stayed on my feet better for long periods of time than anything else I've tried. These concrete ones seem cheap though, so we'll see how they hold up. If it stays the same, I'll be happy

Pros
  • Prevents blistering and chafing for comfortable walking
Cons
  • May not provide enough arch support for everyone

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good shoes apart from the stiff tip of the tongue

Assuming you're wearing decent thick socks, the shoes are pretty comfortable. The top of the tongue is covered in a heavy (sharp-edged) material that is very hard and can dig into skin (other reviewers have mentioned cuts they sustained after wearing it while running). I've tested them by walking around the house in socks and it hasn't bothered me (yet). I've tried them on with shorter socks and I definitely understand why people end up nicking the edge of their tongues. I am very confused as…

Pros
  • Reduces overheating with breathable design
Cons
  • May cause irritation
