The usefulness depends heavily on the user's skills.

Item arrived quickly and worked right out of the box. However, I sent it back as it was not suitable for my purpose. I thought an overview of what was good and not so good in my context might help. Basically, I've identified two possible issues, only one of which was a problem for me. Firstly it would be for my college aged daughter who is mildly dyslexic. She can read well enough to enjoy fiction, but it definitely requires mental effort on her and therefore the process of reading a textbook…

Great scanners for office electronics

The C-Pen is great. I love to read, but I'm a very slow reader, which made reading professional articles almost impossible. With the C-Pen I can now read the very boring textbooks I have. It's easy to use. It's easy to hold. It has great battery life. The only negative, and not much, is that it creates gibberish if you hold it at too great an angle. I wish I had had this pen when I was in college. My grades would have been much better.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Some bugs

I like the concept and am waiting for improvements for the following: 1. There should be multiple English versions. He only has an English version with a heavy British accent. Our kids can't understand it, neither can I. The OCR is fine and the accuracy is tolerable. But the sound is terrible.2. The speaker volume is too low. That's about 30% of my phone's maximum volume. But if you use headphones, everything is fine. But kids with small ears don't like headphones.3. The software and user…

Didn't work for my son but return policy is good

I bought this at the risk that it would help my son who has learning disabilities and possibly dyslexia. He needs his teacher to read him tests, so I thought maybe he could use that instead and become more independent. Unfortunately my 9 year old son has too many ADHD and other issues to tolerate. He wasn't very good at carefully selecting specific lines, nor was he very good at understanding what was being read aloud in digital language, although I felt it was pretty clear to me. This device…

and I think it's more like natural language

I bought this pen for my 11 year old daughter. We've never used a wand so I can't speak to any other wands on the market, but this wand seems to be the smallest and easiest to use. I've also listened to a few other voices and I think this one is more like natural language. We live in the US and the pen has a British accent but she likes the sound so we haven't tried to Americanize it although that is possible. It's surprisingly easy to use and can be quickly moved around the page. My daughter…

BEST investment of my 2020 purchases

My advice is don't buy a new C Pen that can only scan text. It's worth every penny. Reading and commenting on the computer doesn't help me concentrate. PDF annotations aren't very useful for e-readers, and the refresh rate and small screen can be annoying. Paper is my only option as it allows me to completely isolate myself from the internet and focus entirely on the text in front of me. But do I have to take notes? That's when this gem comes into play. I can highlight all important facts and…
