Super quality. I've used regular DMC and gold plated. Unfortunately, the ones I bought from the store last month were of very poor quality. Are you starting to produce inferior needles? They were so bad that the thread snapped when I pulled over the eyelet and I could barely get the needle threader through the eyelet - the inside of the eyelet was very rough. I'm a cross stitcher and would like to try these needles to compare them to the non-gold plated needles. As announced, they glide very smoothly over the Aida fabric. They proved to be more durable than uncoated needles, which bent after a few uses. Some of the cheaper regular non-gold needles have had their tips cut off. These needles have smooth, finished ends that easily go through Aida. I've tried two brands of these gold plated tapestry needles and both were worth the extra cost.

I used to always use DMC cross stitch needles. They come with the kits I buy and I naively thought they must therefore be the best tools for the job. I have used in the past. I recently lost it so I had to buy a replacement as I didn't have a spare of that size. After much searching these gold John James needles looked fine to me but I was very concerned they would be too sharp as the one I was using was blunter on the tip.
