Professional Wiring

Definitely what you need when you need trailer lighting wiring. Installation is easy, but be careful with the bumper clips. You will need something rigid and flexible to run the wires through the bumper behind the headlights. I recommend fish tape or a small PEX tube and tape the wires to it. I ran a 10 ga duplex marine wire to a threaded connector on the fuse box and grounded it under the hood to provide adequate power to the trailer brakes. I adapted mine to work with a 4 pin or 7 pin plug so

High probability of failureโ€ฆ

Before buying I read reviews about it on the trailer - and many claimed that the module either didn't work properly , or in a short time failed. However, since most of these reviews were received <2018 or earlier, I decided to purchase as Kurt must have fixed the issue by now, right?!? The controller worked fine for 3 days I believe. I mean I didn't realize the left side marker/brake/turn didn't work until day 3 - worked fine all day 1. Very frustrating as it is quite difficult to adapt toโ€ฆ

Troubleshoot in 2 full days

After spending 5 years with the system behaving strangely and not having time to assess the problem, I finally had the time to tell my dad the problem with me to work through. He's an electrical engineer and it should have been easy, but everything we tried went weirdly wrong. Was it trailer headlights, ground, converter box, wiring, car? Eventually we learned it was the system itself. No not the converter block, it worked fine as did the connectors and cables. The problem was that the red wire

Your taillights may not work until you change the wiring harness.

Would have been easy to fit except the tail lights didn't work once fitted. I have a 2020 Ford Edge Titanium and apparently Ford decided to use a different wire for the taillights, brake lights and turn signals that were used on earlier models. Once you've figured out which wire (not the brown one, but one of the four white ones) you just need to connect the brown wire going to the coupler connector to that wire and you're good to go. By the way, the second tail light is much easier to findโ€ฆ
