Very easy to set up and use.

I was apprehensive about my purchase after reading some bad reviews but I pulled the trigger because I had many other devices of different brands installed and had no problems. First of all, this application uses Bluetooth to find the device for initial setup. You then use your phone's camera to scan the code on the head unit and finally enter your Wi-Fi information. This took about 5 minutes. Everything worked smoothly and I didn't turn on "Airplane Mode" as some other reviewers recommended. I

This is an amazing device

I live in Houston, Texas and installing water heaters in the attic of houses is a common occurrence here. I found it odd as I was concerned that water would leak through the ceiling if the tank broke, but I think it makes sense because the high temperature of the attic helps heat the water and save on heating bills in the summer. And here in Houston, it's pretty warm all year round. I built this device below and tested it according to the instructions. He was alerted when he came into contact…

Easy to install and place

I had a leaking water heater many years ago and the installation site is in a converted basement. It was great damage, so much damage that it happened immediately. I never wanted to go through that again so I bought a cheap battery powered water detector but it eventually died and they were the same price as those washers offered by D-Link. So I saw and ordered them as they allow control via the app and have a very loud alarm. The installation was very easy and the main node is installed behind

It works. I hope I never need it.

I got this kit to keep an eye on my laundry where a leak is more likely and as a bonus I have the ability to monitor another location (my main bathroom). Setup is surprisingly easy. The instructions could have been a bit more detailed but I was able to get everything working with the main unit plugged in and the sensor hanging off the floor. I love that they give you self-adhesive cord clips to keep them tidy. The included add-on box is even easier to install (and easier to place and use in my…

Alarm won't turn off

Overview: D-Link Wi-Fi Water Leak Detector and Alarm Starter Kit, Whole Home Home System with App Notification, AC Power, No Hub Required (DCH-S1621KT) I have taken this because my aquarium is constantly overflowing. First the disadvantages, then the advantages. Main Cons=If you lose power, this thing won't tell you anything if your network goes down.=CAN'T TURN THE ALARM OFF. The alarm clock is annoying and you probably don't even need it. Maybe you just want to be notified by phone. Who cares

Needed this after a recent toilet flood, tested and working, peace of mind

So far I'm happy with this purchase after installing it in response to the downstairs bathroom flooding. My niece has unfortunately clogged our toilet twice since she finished, causing flooding which meant we needed some sort of detection so we could spot it in the future once it happened. Luckily we now have this D-Link sensor kit, which works as described so far, although if it reports accurately, as it did in the last two tests, we'll have to see when the actual leak occurs. Installation is…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Something else

I have walked the smart home route and have used Wi-Fi enabled devices for a variety of purposes. Adding a D-Link DCH-S1621KT Wi-Fi water sensor and a Chinese-made alarm starter kit seemed like a logical next step. I already own D-Link cameras and many Kasa D-Link products, so I'm already familiar with the brand. Setting up the water sensor was easy. Even though I have D-Link cameras, the app I'm using is out of date. To use this sensor I had to install the mydlink app. After installation I…

Easy install - Detects water effectively - Alarm could be louder

I use this water sensor from D-Link in two places. The base unit + water detection "tail" is in my basement, along the wall that sometimes spills water during heavy storms. The "Washing Machine" block is at the top in a tray under the water heater. I installed it this morning following the instructions that came with it. I downloaded the D-Link app and scanned the QR code that came with the unit, then plugged in the tail and let us download the firmware update. Everything went quickly and…
