Even with a cover - it can accidentally turn on

Excellent tester. It was very helpful. I was surprised to see that my device was on when I tried to use it. So I did an experiment: I explicitly turned off the device and then put it in a case. Then I crushed the body with my fingers. .When opening, the device was of course switched on. It's possible the manufacturer will update the software to require a long press or triple press to turn on. This will solve this problem. In the meantime, I need to find a metal box to store this.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • High price

Good enough. in network and cable tester

The only reason I bought this device was that our Cisco switches detect POE connections without using a bulky IP phone. I needed this to quickly trace sockets to switches. Our switches don't register connections, but they do register performance changes on ports. This device causes the log to show "Power on" and then "Power off". That's all I had to do and he's doing it. It has other features that seem accurate when tested. This unit isn't super premium and I'm not sure how long it will last…

  • Satisfied so far

Ideal for testing RG45 cable runs

I have a $1200 Fluke network cable tester at work. It's great at what it does, but it's too expensive for my home use. I have a setup of 4K cameras throughout the house and lost two cameras after a recent rainstorm. I narrowed it down to the fact that the network cable connections are corroded so I need to cut off the old RJ45 connectors and make new ones. Having no idea what the original wiring was, I had to cut off each end and make new connections. That's where this tool comes in handy…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet
