Great concept but reality doesn't match

What did I hope to get from this device? A great way to analyze electricity consumption, spot trends and wasteful appliances, and keep a close eye on one of our household's biggest monthly expenses. What did I get after 6 months of use? โ€ข Confusing installation process with incomplete instructions. and the inevitable requests to Eyedro Support to make mysterious changes behind their cloudy veil that suddenly got everything working โ€ข A frustratingly simple and clunky web interface that I have to

Pros
  • Everything great!
Cons
  • Ease of maintenance

It does what it's supposed to do very well

Eyedro is easy to install and does what it's supposed to do very well. Easy installation and configuration. Connected to the internet and my account very quickly. Think about what you want. If you just want to monitor energy consumption in your home. Eyedro is doing a great job. In the application, there is no way to determine what is consuming energy. There are no statistics or diagnostic information. You're on your own. Compared to the more expensive Sense, all I can say is you get what youโ€ฆ

Best option with local data access

I was looking for an energy monitoring solution to replace the Blueline Energycloud device I had in my house. Blueline uses a power meter for monitoring, so it has no current transformers. It works fine but network connection drops, device discovery is useless and most importantly it has no API to access data. I argued between Sense, Emporia and Eyedro. In the end, I chose Eyedro because of the cost and support for local data access. So far I couldn't be happier! My house has a combined meterโ€ฆ

An amazing device for monitoring energy consumption.

These Eyedro units are amazing. I needed to better understand my real-time energy consumption and forecast my monthly electricity bills. My entire house is connected to the grid, which can result in my electric bill ranging from $200 to $600 per month depending on the weather and usage. These Eyedro devices provide you with excellent real-time (15 minutes to 24 hours) and summary (monthly/weekly/daily/hourly) consumption and energy cost information. It is also possible to create specificโ€ฆ

40% reduction in power consumption

I originally purchased the Ethernet version of this product because I prefer the reliability of Ethernet over Wi-Fi. The Ethernet version doesn't charge for solar power so I returned it and bought the Wifi version. The Revain description wasn't clear about the Ethernet version's limitations when I bought it. This device, along with inexpensive Wi-Fi enabled outlets, has enabled me to reduce my monthly electricity consumption by 40%. At night or when we leave the house, sockets can be switchedโ€ฆ

Very decent (according to the latest firmware)

This review relates to the EHEIM1 Eyedro 2-terminal monitor (without built-in WLAN). I bought and installed it at the end of January 2017. Installation was easy. I used a Wi-Fi range extender/repeater (DEBBIECTY MSRM US300 300Mbps Wireless-N Wi-Fi Range Extender, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Repeater with full 360 coverage) to connect Eyedro over my Wi -Fi router to connect your home to the internet. It's cheaper than buying a wireless Eyedro. My goal is to monitor individual devices that turn on automatically

Highly Recommended - Home Automation Devices

Worth the money if you just want to know what you're paying on your energy bill. Installation took about 30 minutes (25 minutes to go through the network cable and find an extension cord for the power adapter needed to power the Eyedro. The power adapter that came with it was not long enough to reach a suitable outlet. One on the day it was plugged in and plugged in it was up and running in just a few minutes no real complaints about the product it just works the construction of the case seemsโ€ฆ

Love it but I support BAD

UPDATE: EYEFI-2 has stopped communicating. It was sporadic for a few weeks and then stopped altogether. I contacted tech support and they tell me they are having problems with the server. A few days later I still haven't heard from tech support and they haven't responded to a request for more information or an update on server issues. I would stay away from this product for now. This review applies to both directional and non-directional airframes. I just bought this Eyedro for directionalโ€ฆ

Excellent cost effective system

Works great. There are several ways to analyze current and historical data. Charts are very useful for tracking or just observing energy consumption. You have the choice to view current accounts, monthly/weekly/daily/hourly consumption, weekly reports, real-time consumption (15 minute to 24 hour chart), vampire (phantom) consumption and more. This can be viewed in a browser on any computer or phone. There is no dedicated app, but the mobile site works well. The mobile site lacks some featuresโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
