I had a hard time deciding whether to spend the extra money on a more expensive version. I'm glad I didn't because the picture quality was good enough on the cheaper one. I think if you are a builder/DIY you may benefit from the higher resolution. I just wanted it to find hot/cold spots on the walls and ceiling to see if my new home has a lack of insulation or excessive drafts. Failed to load media. I had the opportunity to try both this consumer thermal imager and the more advanced professional version. This camera is best for people who want a "good enough" solution that can detect window drafts and other macro-level temperature changes.
