Brand new Garmin Forerunner 35, beginner and intermediate Forerunner models

Approximately 7 months. I have tried and tested the following watches: Forerunner 735XT, Fenix 3 HR, Apple Watch Series 1, Vivoactive HR and even Polar M400. As a runner/intermediate, I really thought I needed all those "enhanced running speakers" that the Fenix 3 and FR735XT had, but I found that I absolutely didn't need them. The FR735XT seemed very cheap at $449, I would highly recommend it to any serious triathlete but no one else. The Fenix 3 HR is a monster. Looks good but for the price…

Not the best choice for exercising runners

Are you a runner who wants to take your training to the next level but can't afford to allow it? really expensive device? Wondering why on earth you even need it? I was in your place! As an activity tracker, the Forerunner 35 is very good. I'm giving 3 stars because many of the features that a runner can use don't work and I find it misleading to sell a machine with those features if they aren't really useful for training. Basically, it's a good activity tracker masquerading as an (inefficient)

Pros
  • Measures wrist-based heart rate day and night with Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart rate technology
Cons
  • Not bad

A decent running watch with a few flaws that you may or may not care about.

I wore the Garmin Forerunner 35 and the Fitbit Charge 3 on the same wrist for several days and did a detailed comparison of their data (think multi-tabbed spreadsheets and graphs). The metrics I looked at included daily resting heart rate, steps, calories, distance, and sleep. I also looked at activity data, which is distance, average heart rate, average pace, and calories from running and walking the dog. At the end of the day, the two fitness trackers provided fairly consistent data, with a…

Brand new Garmin Forerunner 35, Forerunner beginner/intermediate

I've been looking for a beginner/intermediate running GPS watch for about 7 months. Pros
  • Running GPS modules
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen

A decent running watch with a few flaws that you may or may not care about.

After carefully researching different brands and models of running watches and fitness trackers, I wore a Garmin Forerunner 35 and a Fitbit Charge 3 on the same wrist for several days and made an extensive comparison of my data ( e.g. spreadsheets with multiple tabs and charts). The metrics I looked at included daily resting heart rate, steps, calories, distance, and sleep.
