The installation took some time. Stopped working after 8 months. Went to U-Haul and installed their store's wire harness, paid extra for insurance and will replace if it ever breaks.

The control unit died after 2 years of very rare use. I tested it with a multimeter and current is coming in but not out. Hopkins notified me and sent me a replacement. Great customer service and they stand behind the product.

Works well. What you will need in addition to this kit are more zip ties and a smaller 1/4 ring clamp for the battery. The one they give you is 1/2 inside diameter. The battery exit post bolt is 6mm or 1/4 ring in diameter. The line to the battery is the only painful part of the setup. Plan an hour to get the job done.

I've tried two of Curt's wiring harnesses in the last six years. Both failed for me. I called e-trailer and they told me that Hopkins is the best wire harness manufacturer. Simple assembly instructions. I would give 5 stars if they included some sort of wiring harness to protect what is basically a long cable that has to be pulled to the battery. Just prepare about 10 feet of wire, some tape, and a few extra zip ties. I think a beginner will get the job done and if not there are tons of videos on YouTube to follow.

This product has been used less than 4 months and no longer works. The box was the problem. I only used it 3 times before it went bad. Bought a new trailer 4 hours from home, hooked it up and drove off and it had constant traffic lights with no brakes. I put the meter on the wires in front of the box and applied power. Put the meter on the other side and had constant power for everything else. So I cut out the box to start my journey home and everything worked fine.

Works great, I use it on my 2008 Ford Escape. I've read about buying a wire that connects to the factory trailer light wires and adds three relays, but when I tried to add the relays in the locations in the fuse box, I found that there was no wiring under the holes . I recommend checking with the relay you have before attempting this route. This cable set works great and installs in no time. It comes with everything, even a ground screw.
