Best Cutting Gauge in the $10 Range

Overall this is a better buy than comparable quality western style gauges. You have to understand that this is a $10 caliber so quality will vary widely and will need fine tuning. I sharpened the blade and beveled the wedge and shank heads to keep them from cracking and removed a few fuzzy bits here and there. The blade is just a stamped piece of steel, it's solid and cuts both soft and hard woods well. You will also need a small hammer to set and tighten the gauge, finger tightening will not…

This meets my needs better than expected.

I've made some templates, I have a double Veritas template, a digital template and some cheap wheel templates. You will never have enough, and each can have its own benefits. I bought this knife edge mark sensor when I needed deeper knife walls. I sanded and adjusted the beam and frame (a few minutes), making sure I didn't polish the wedge to maintain friction. You click to install and configure this tool. and it's easy to feel the stop offset adjustment. My device had a tight blade fit. This…

Small adjustment needed

I bought two of these marker sensors and they both work very well. The cutting blade is sharp and makes a fine line on the wood. I broke the head of the hardwood wedge on the first one I bought a few months ago, I think it was brittle so I made a new wedge with softer wood and think I've improved it. Then I decided I needed a second one so I didn't have to change the setting every time I needed to mark a different line. You'll need some sort of mallet to hit the wedge to set the marker securely

  • Easy to use
