Can be filled with either Nyjer Seed or Wild Finch Food. Use with the KAYTEE Finch Feeder Station to enjoy feeding birds in your own backyard. Wild Finches prefer the mesh socks over tube feeders, hands down!.

Should not be fresh in the feed

We have purchased this many times over the years and finches have flocked to this seed. However, the last 3 or 4 bird feeders we bought didn't bring any birds to our bird feeders. Some have an expiration date, some don't. We decided to buy a feeder and fill it with fresh seeds. I can't get a refund because I don't want to pay for shipping. I've lost enough money on this product. Ready to hear all seller thoughts. I gave it one star because it used to be a reputable company.

Pros
  • Birds
Cons
  • Slightly Wrinkled

It serves its purpose, but not very visually.

He does a great job with the house finches that come to my Denver yard. I was also surprised to see a pigeon eating something that fell to the ground one morning. I'm sure he couldn't grab the sock, but at least he got something out of it. The sock is ugly, especially after it keeps getting emptier. It will change color and look a bit strange if not filled with seeds. He's leaving some seeds and pods on the pavement down below, so I'll have to find a better spot for him. House finches don't go…

Pros
  • Feeder
Cons
  • Almost never

Good luck with my finch socks

Good luck with my finch socks. I wasn't worried about any seeds leaking out of the sock in the pack as I always add anyway. My tip for stuffing is this: I put the sock in an old tall vase (like the one that flowers come in) and use a cardboard tube made from kitchen paper to stick it inside the sock as a kind of funnel. I placed the seeds in an empty plastic coffee container with a V notch on top. Easy to fill in a cardboard tube. Just don't forget to seal the top of the container on the sides!

Pros
  • Feeding and drinking accessories
Cons
  • Everything ok
