Disappointed best seaweed scraper

Good at first but the blade wears out quickly. The deeper I go the harder I squeeze it to keep the glass crystal clear of algae which is why I use it in 2 different sized tanks every day. I was also expecting the blades to come with three other smaller scrapers, but that didn't happen. So I'm disappointed and will have to buy something else soon. On the other hand I would recommend it if your sand gets dirty on the underside, but again I have to use a lot of pressure.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Expensive

bad party? suitable for fish and aquatic animals

The first one I received had a crack where the scraper threads into the handle. Sent back and asked for a replacement. Received a replacement and wasn't cracked when received but the minute I changed the screws on the handle it broke again in the same place. The plastic is very thin, in places it needs to be heavily reinforced. So I sent the second one back and bought a different brand. With all the good reviews, I almost have to think of a bad batch or bad quality control.

  • Great construction

It worked great! at Fish & Aquatic Pets

We have a 60 gallon salt water tank. We had a build up of seaweed on the sidewalls that our snails touched lightly but not fully. It worked great. I used a plastic scraper and being short I was able to scrape off all the gravel with a step stool. I even used it to clean up after our gramma fish which has a corner in the rock and therefore has a "poo" stain. Our tank is acrylic and this has not affected the tank in any way. You have to be careful not to scratch off the glue in the corners…

The Best Cleaning Tool You'll Ever Need

I previously bought an all in one with accessories from my local Petsmart that was fine and had an extension cord. However, this thing broke when I was trying hard to clean my 65 gallon fresh water tank. The plastic was flimsy so I decided to try this tool for my marine aquarium. As soon as I opened it up and saw how huge and very powerful this tool is, I knew I would buy another one for my freshwater aquarium. Even came with a seaweed scraper which is a bonus. Every fish farmer needs one or…

Amazing, seems sturdy like it will last.

I seem to buy a new scraper every 6-12 months. I've tried aluminum, plastic, hollow and solid. Maybe I'm pushing too hard on the coral reef algae? I don't know but they always seem to break. So far this one doesn't flex and seems to flex less than others I've had so I think it could last longer. My aquarium is 30 inches deep and with the canopy on top it was very difficult to get into the bottom corners without a stool and a wet hand. It's long enough to go anywhere and strong enough to…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • High price

Very happy with the quality of this scraper! The first thing that struck me when I took the pen out of the box was how solid it felt. More and more aquarium products are being made from cheaper plastic, so it was nice to pull it out and feel how durable it was with the fiberglass construction. Even when fully extended at 36 inches, the handle remains stiff, allowing you to apply adequate pressure on the glass to remove more stubborn algae or coralline algae for those with saltwater aquariums…

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others

Great seaweed scraper - seaweed, my other one couldn't remove it

I have a MagFloat seaweed scraper that has two magnetized parts. You glue the bristle part to the inside of the tank and use the other part on the outside to slide over it. It works great with the soft algae I had in my tanks until recently when I started getting this very hard green stuff. Mag-Float didn't cut it no matter how many passes I made. I was looking for something with a blade and this scraper fitted the bill. It's not as high-tech as Mag-Float, but sometimes simplicity is better. It
