I use it for measuring landscaping, trench lengths, estimating pipe lengths, fence post placement, etc. It's fairly accurate and easy to use. Brake and reset on the handle are excellent. Sand works in the bike, but going fast on non-sandy terrain helps. I used it pretty roughly, folded it in half and tossed it in the back of a truck for about a month with no problem.

This is very inaccurate. I put on a 100 foot belt and ran this wheel down the belt. At the 100 foot mark on the tape, this wheel read 90 feet 2 inches. 10 feet per hundred. This can be a very costly mistake for someone like me. I used it to survey roads and now that I see the inaccuracy I can't even figure out how much money we lost. DO NOT BUY! This is a cute little measuring wheel - get the 1ft diameter version as it can be more accurate than the smaller one. I use this to measure trail distances and compare to GPS readings when satellite coverage is poor. For some reason, this works best downhill, but the measurements in the two directions (uphill and uphill) are pretty close.
