Description of ๐Ÿงถ Lacis Yarn Ball Winder - In-Line

This hand operated yarn winder is perfect for making pull thread balls up to 4 ounces without requiring any cones or tubes. Nique winder uses an in line bobbin with a moving yarn guide and a removable table clamp, giving the winder total control and a very smooth winding motion. Winder measures 5-1/2 by 8x3-3/4-inch and clamps onto surfaces up to 1-1/2-inch thick

Good construction, smaller capacity

My only real disappointment with this ball wrapper is that the ball size is a bit more limited than the "Rocker Type" ball wrappers I've used. But it's made of very durable material (the "guts" are metal, not cheap plastic gears that wear out over time) and it's a lot easier to transport. I'd rather wrap two smaller balls around these than one larger one over a cheap plastic ball that tends to bounce around and end up pulling gears off or hanging yarn in gears. Not good. It has no openโ€ฆ

Big improvement over other Lacis plastic winders

I was a little apprehensive when ordering this item as I couldn't find a personal review, only descriptions in store which included "Smooth Winding" and I have another plastic winder from Lacis that is really subpar --> Yarn Winder The built in winder is a beauty. The much heavier plastic construction, when attached to the table, actually stays on the table (there are no other bobbin winders) and (best of all) the yarn can't get caught in the gears. In case you're wondering, it *really* has aโ€ฆ

Not worth it

I didn't expect this to be an amazing winding machine for the price, but I didn't expect to be so disappointed with it either. The yarn "jumps" all the time while winding, resulting in messy, tangled strands when trying to use them. The gears twitch when the handle is turned (which is equivalent to skipping threads) and it's quite noisy in use. Then only rewinding the yarn and an already wound skein without tension helped to minimize the jumps - which is pointless, because the result is a hugeโ€ฆ
