The quality is ok on the whole, it has some small flaws.

It will do for a monopod. For a tripod - no way. For its price and the proud name of Manfrotto, you expect something more interesting. But in fact - you can find cheaper Chinese head, which will be exactly the same. Got pros: It is very light - this is exactly what was required of it, because it was bought for a light monopod. About the important: the platform is interchangeable with the heads of the 701st and 500th. The move of the head. Didn't like it. There is no resistance at all. For…

Very good processing quality and smooth running.

Manfrotto makes great stuff, and this one is no exception. BUT, you have to pay for it. This fluid head isn't very smooth, but it is smoother than any other similar head I have in this price range. It is smooth all the way from the loose to the closing point. I have successfully mounted full frame SLRs with lenses from 200mm to 400mm and even a powerful 5lb large diameter spotting scope. After adapting it to the current requirements, it worked very well. In my experience, if it looks like a…

Not bad but has a few issues

Nice head and I like the everyday video capture and portability of the device. However, one must ask oneself two fundamental questions. I have very immobilized hands, but it is difficult to immobilize pans in the 40-50mm range. Second, and this is the main reason I didn't return the unit (I mean I can't), the horizontal pivot eyelet is not tightened enough to prevent the unit from unscrewing from my monopod. Spins constantly. Luckily the head isn't bad for its size and portability, but if you…

Holds a well-balanced camcorder weighing over 6 pounds

For travel this might be fine. I have a DVX200 as a backup - a monstrous 6.6 pound camcorder and this unit is for travel, every extra gram is a liability. So it's a big win that the MVH400 is so light and yet able to handle the load. The head isn't as silky smooth as a $600 head, but it's smooth enough. What others say it can't support the specified load, well if the load is off center you probably have problems. For a DSLR with a large, heavy lens, make sure you attach the head to the lens…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • boring packaging

This helps when portability and weight are more important than smooth shooting. I use it to travel with a carbon fiber tripod (Sirui T-025x carbon fiber tripod with C-10 ball head and this combo fits in the original tripod bag. It fits easily in carry-on luggage or a large camera backpack. I would Don't use it for customer service unless it's a last resort (I usually use Manfrotto 501/502 heads) but for the price, size and weight it's pretty good, I think some People expected a lightweight…

Really good travel size and lightweight video ball head!

First of all, I'm not a professional videographer. I bought this head because my hobby is making animal videos and all I have are photo ball heads. The ball heads for photography just didn't fit and I had to spend a lot of time searching for them to fit my needs. So I decided I needed a video head, but nothing fancy or expensive. In addition, it should be compact and light. To be honest, this was all new territory for me. Anyway, I took the Revain and started looking at their video heads. Not…

Splendor inspired by YouTube!

I saw a YouTube video of Hudson Henry explaining why he uses fluid heads for photography. I was inspired by myself to get one. I considered the Manfrotto 502AH but it looked too heavy and bulky for travel. I saw Manfrotto introduce the Befree range of tripods and was glad the head was sold separately as I already own a Manfrotto 190CF. I originally planned to buy a 3-way head as it is flexible, accurate and easily switchable from horizontal to horizontal. Portrait (I like to photograph both…
