Please note that it is actually the size of a mouse, not a hamster. The wheel and feeder are too small to use and had to be removed. But the cage itself is oversized for emergency transport. Stay together and the door won't open until you try to open it. We bought it after forgetting our hamster when our neighborhood caught fire. Nothing happened to our house, but we will never forget it. conveniently at hand.

I needed to get something quickly and cheaply (I'll get paid by tomorrow). When I opened the wheel with the plastic on it, the part was broken (which I didn't realize until I opened the plastic). I cut my thumb trying to open it. Had to put tape on it, can't get the water bottle to stay on the cage and it's very small. Luckily I'll grab a bigger one from the store tomorrow so I can see before I buy. I think it would be nice to transport pets but not for long.

Please do not buy this small cage as a permanent resident for your small pet. It's small - very small. I used it for a couple of weeks after having 2 little orphaned squirrels that were 3 weeks old but outgrew them quickly. Everything was fine at first because the little squirrels were just sleeping, but once their eyes opened and they started moving around on their own, a larger cage was definitely in order.
