This gate is a good buy. Less than $20 and works well. There's a nice lever that you push to lock it. It initially takes some time to find out how wide the flap is so that it retracts perfectly when the lever is pushed down. But once you do that, you're done.

This was purchased to keep our little pup from going down the stairs to the basement. It was easy to install and worked well. It's easy for adults to step over too, which is a plus for me. Unfortunately, after seeing cats cross him a few times, she also started trying to get over it. We moved it to another door where the cats aren't interested and it worked again.

If you're like me you're looking at this because you want to put up a sturdy gate so your little four-legged friend can't get anywhere - neither in the room nor on the stairs. This is for your peace of mind - look elsewhere. These gates are weak, flimsy and cannot even hold a hamster. Not to mention that it's incredibly difficult to open if you ever want to use it. There are many other options, look elsewhere.

I had high hopes for this product as there are cheaper options. It's not that expensive, but cheaper wooden gates work better. I thought the plastic would be harder. It works, but not great. The locking mechanism doesn't seem solid and the offsets to accommodate the baseboard aren't appropriate for my situation. My baseboard is 3 inches and the gate fits just right. The gate works perfectly! It came in perfect condition inside and out. This is an amazing product! It came with no instructions, but it only took me about 10 minutes to figure out the mechanism, which I really enjoyed by the way! This handle makes it so easy to open and close the gate, not just move it back and forth! Now make sure your walls are level! I made the mistake of not checking it, but I did it right. First of all I read so many good/bad reviews about this product and realized that installing a dog guard in my house is not as difficult as it used to be and the reason why I have this Bought it because of reviews and price, but lesson learned, you get what you pay for.
