Description of πŸ”§ OTC 6474 Camshaft Alignment Tool for 1994-2014 4-Cylinder Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln Vehicles

OTC's Ford Cam Pulley Holding Tool is a 'must have' for ensuring both cams stay in sync when belt is disconnected for replacement or other procedures which require belt removal. Simply rotate the engine to top-dead-center and slide the precisely sized tool across the lip of the cylinder head into the slots on the back ends of the camshafts to ensure cam alignment. Note: The camshaft timing slots are offset - if the camshaft alignment timing tool cannot be installed, rotate the crankshaft one complete revolution clockwise to correctly position the camshafts. Tool is designed for use on many Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles equipped with 2.0L, 2.3L, 2.5L 4-cylinder engines - see product description below for a complete list. Same as Ford No. 303-398 (T92C-6256-AH); includes complete instructions for use of tool

Good product! - Suspension tools

Worked great on my Ford ZX2 '02! Intake and exhaust cams perfectly aligned. Timing belt, idler pulley, idler pulley and pump changed.

Pros
  • A few competitors
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Check the engine manufacturing date

Works for my zetec 2.0 motor. Make sure you choose the right one. Some zetec engines use a different one. check the date of manufacture.

Pros
  • Trial period for one year
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Great tool! couldn't work better!

DO NOT allow torque. Follow the instructions. A tool will do, but you could damage the camera. I don't care about Ford's design, but it works!

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • some little things

Exact fit for 2002 Ford Escort ZX2 2.0 DOHC

This tool is required to change the timing belt. Make sure the camshafts on the #1 piston (passenger side) are facing away from each other before inserting this tool into the grooves on the driver's side of the camshafts.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Alignment Tool: Tools and Equipment

Best Price I've Found. Arrived on time. Unfortunately some Zetec engines have recessed cams and this tool does not work even though it claims to work. I will not force this on the seller as every manual and video I have looked at has shown this particular tool. It's best to check your cameras first. If they are attached below the head, it will not work.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Tool machined to tight tolerances

worked very well, I also used it to check the head for warpage, it was good, obviously these engines warp in the middle because they don't have middles have head screws. If they stretch the cylinders it could be redone, but it would make the engine longer and not fit into tight spaces, so a loss to the consumer in the long run

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Looking pretty good

Looking pretty good, strong castle. I have a 2.0 Zetec engine on a 2003 Ford Escort zx2. This should work for my machine. If that's your engine, don't use this lock. It's too thick to fit in the cams because the head goes too far. I ended up buying a metal ruler from Ace and it worked for me, but this OTC item was a waste of money. If you have a different motor it might be worth it.

Pros
  • Happy for now
Cons
  • Write later
