This kit was great to update my aging mid 2011 27 inch iMac. It had all the tools I needed, extremely easy to follow with OWC videos clearly labeled and nicely packaged, making upgrading the SSD a breeze. probably never use again Ideally it would be great if this included just the essentials for this particular setup at a lower price.

Misleading Ads. I only provided a T10, T8, Phillips screwdriver and a tool from the tool kit. What was missing? Complete 14-piece tool set with case. That means no case, tweezers, and a few other missing screwdrivers that I found the hard way when disassembling my iMac, except for the very last screw, which requires a T6. Also, only one suction cup worked. I was still able to get the jar out, but it's quite annoying to say the least.

My husband used this toolbox to install an SSD in my 27" iMac. It worked great except one of the suction cups didn't hold up well and let go of my screen when we put it back on. Luckily it didn't do any major damage, there was a small dent that didn't seem to matter and there is a nick on my desk. The tools were great and buying the set was a lot cheaper than buying the tool and cable separately.

Disagree with some critical reviews. My kit came with everything and the installation went smoothly. Suggestion (to OWC): You can use an additional DIY kit with a static cover for iMac as it is an important part of the SSD installation and screen protection process. Skeptics will appreciate this. Suggestion (to users): Have the iMAC static cover that came with the original product handy (which some of you may have lost)!

A few weeks ago my iMac's internal hard drive was causing the computer to start up very slowly. As an obvious contributor to more than my fair share of hard drive kills, I immediately decided to use my external boot drive to back up all my data, order this kit (and another one to replace the hard drive), and that to have the device repaired. Perfect kit for the job. The suction cups are great. You really only need one, but it would be nice to have even pressure on the screen. The tools were perfect and had everything needed to disassemble the iMac. The little plastic tools were great for any power connections that needed to come out. They even put in a nice lint free cloth which was great for making sure there weren't any fingerprints left on the device. I ordered this kit after speaking directly with OWC about upgrading/replacing my current hard drive in my 27" iMac Mid 2011. We looked at options to simply replace the main hard drive, put an additional SSD in the caddy instead of the CD or optical drive, put an SSD under the CD drive, which required extra work, and a free SATA port on the use motherboard. I used this kit to install a Samsung 850 Pro in my 2011 iMac. I followed the video and the whole thing took about 1 1/4 hours. At this point dust cleaning is included and I was driving very slowly. The kit comes with paper for sorting different sized screws which was very helpful. I'd suggest taking some closeups of the motherboard/connectors so you know how to put it all back together.
