Big improvements, with flaws

This unit works well on all bands including AM, I had 3V-115 and they also had problems with AM whistling, crackling I think, shielding problem . The J-401 Prunus doesn't have these problems, but I would like a larger ferrite rod antenna on this model. Everything else is great. I give him 5 stars. This is a great little radio with recording capability. Well done Prunus! Upgrade AUX jack, seems broken, no reasonable connection to my computer with the data cable from the radio, same problem as…

Value for money - go for it!

This is an excellent radio. My Thoughts-1) Reception is excellent FM and AM reception. SW reception is ok. (This also depends on your region/time) 2) The speaker has absolutely amazing sound for its size. The speaker does not distort at full volume3) Design - Thoughtful design, lightweight and comfortable to hold. Nicely placed buttons. It has a nice classic rectangular design (not the square/rectangular shape which I don't like). You can hold it horizontally or vertically. It also has a rear…

A big step to the perfect radio

The new Prunus J-401 is a multi-band radio/recorder with a rich feature set at an affordable price. With this device, you can not only tune into AM, FM and shortwave radio programs, you can also record them at the touch of a button. In addition, you can connect any external audio player with a line output to the J-401's line input and not only listen to the source, but also record it. Doing it all so easily and in such a compact form factor is my idea of the perfect portable radio. Now if we…

Decent sound quality but short battery life. Not for weak AM systems.

Pros: Good mid-size radio for about $20 with some cons. decent sized display and speakers. a slightly controlled turn of the volume knob (but clockwise to turn down the volume, which is not "normal"). can be recorded on SD card. decent clear sound. Accumulator. Not so good :. It took 5 seconds to switch between preset keys from 1 to 0. The "M+" and "M-" buttons are too small. AM stations 28 miles away didn't pick up, while another, much smaller $12 radio did. Cannot be used for AM radio due to…

For $22 you can't go wrong

I only tested it as a radio. I haven't checked the recording or MP3 features. This is a solid little performer. The AM DX performance is satisfactory and the AM antenna is fairly directional. From my location (West Hollywood, California) I was able to receive WWV and even WWVH in Hawaii (female), but it was covered in a thick layer of hash. I suspect this is an issue with my environment, not the receiver. It's powered by a BL-5C battery, which is basically a cell phone battery, and charged via…

Great little all-band portable radio and more!

This is a small multi-band radio receiver (AM, FM, SW) that is battery powered (plug it into your phone's charger). Setup is easy and the display is large and clear. Sound quality is respectable for the size, and there's a microSD card slot so you can listen to audiobooks or music. The battery life on a single charge lasts for more than a day in the office and although I usually use FM, I tinker with 80 meters of audio in the morning until dawn and enjoy foreign stations. There are a few more…

My favorite pocket radio / MP3 player

I love this little pocket radio / MP3 player. Fits (barely) in a shirt pocket. Features not found in most others. AM / FM / shortwave reception. Aux-in and headphone jacks. Can play mp3 from Micro SD card. Shuffle/random play. Equalizer presets (7). , AUX input or built-in microphone. Replaceable battery. sleep timer. You can input radio frequencies or MP3 songs manually using the keyboard. Key lock and mute buttons. You can adjust the display contrast and backlight time in the settings menu…

Much bigger than expected and not for AM radio

Bought to replace a lost Lefon L-908 radio. Wanted to buy another but on this Revain page this Prunus radio was shown in the description and the photos were at the bottom of the page. I've seen it have a lock feature, which the Lefon sorely lacks, and it's powered by the same batteries. So I bought it immediately. However, I didn't realize how big this thing was. It doesn't fit in any of my shirt pockets where I wanted to. The interesting tiny speaker in this Prunus radio is only about 3.5 cm…
