Outstanding Value in a NAS Array

QNAP offers you the best bang for your buck in NAS arrays. Great support, more software options than you'll ever need. They are perfect for the home or office! This array is fast and nearly silent. The only thing I would change is a dual power supply option or the ability to add my own blueray burner for archival purposes.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • No Instructions

Excellent quality excellent company excellent performance

I do not like to compare the percentage for 1300 bucks for a full 12-slot box with SSD and m.2. The performance is too good for home use or small business. This basic model is sufficient. If you had a lot of users, I might go with one with a bigger CPU. QNAP has great customer support: you call a number and within one call you get a knowledgeable person on the phone.

Pros
  • clear even to the old
Cons
  • communication with the seller

Very very poor 10GbE network performance

I was hoping that this would be a good replacement for the failed QNAP NAS that had served me well for the past decade. To my surprise, the performance of this particular NAS is terrible. When connected to another NAS via a 10GbE fiber interface, the NAS to NAS data transfer rate was actually slower than the 1GbE interface and the CPU utilization on this particular 1635 approached 90% at peak times. I have contacted QNAP Technical Support and will give them an opportunity to help me and if they

Great Value, Reasonable Speed

The Qnap TS 1635AX is a really good deal. You can get an 18-slot NAS for less than $1,500. I had some problems that were hidden. For example: - The maximum amount of cache you can have is 1 TB. - Speed really never hits the 1 Gigabyte/sec mark due to processor limitations (Even I had 4 Samsung QVOs on Raid 0 and the max speed I could achieve was 700-800 Megabytes/sec) - Raid 50 speeds are impressive! I've connected 12 x 8TB on Raid 50 and am getting consistent speeds of 450-500 megabytes/s on…

FAILURE, terrible product, absolute insult

Device design obsolete. Will not work with certified RAM. The support team was slow to respond (days/weeks). The device could not handle large volumes (80 TB+). It was suggested (by qnap support) that the device is defective and that I should return it. I contacted, chose a replacement device. The replacement unit still didn't work, exactly the same problems. Absolute rubbish. Stay away. Revain charged me for return shipping (I'm in APO) both times! HORRIBLE experience - over $35 each time. I…

The NAS works as it should. Customer service is excellent.

The documentation provided including links to online documentation wasn't great, some issues didn't seem applicable to my model so I called tech support their hours are 9-9 EST. I quickly found a knowledgeable gentleman who offered to connect Teamviewer to my system and help set it up. Since I use Teamviewer anyway, it was easy and it got me started and also answered all my questions. In fact it was so good that I called back a couple of times when I had questions about the error message and…

Works well, with one or two minor issues

This QNAP TS1635AX is used as a private backup/personal cloud server with plans for future media storage, it requires tools and is pretty easy to load. At the moment I have 8 enterprise drives with a capacity of 6 TB. It seems to work fast enough and is pretty easy to set up once you know a bit about defining users, assigning folders, etc. problems? First, M.2 cache drives. The motherboard of this NAS features two M.2 slots for installing SSDs that can be used as boost cache. Great idea BUT…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
