Description of Reef Builder: Ultimate 4kg / 8.8 lbs Solution for Vibrant Coral Reef Growth

REEF BUILDER: Raises carbonate alkalinity (KH) without immediately impacting pH. Reef Builder contains a blend of carbonate sources that will not lower pH as competing bicarbonate products can. STABILIZATION: With long term use there will be a tendency to stabilize at pH 8.3. Reef Builder will not deplete calcium, magnesium or strontium within your tank. USE: Reef Builder can be used alongside Reef Buffer. Use Reef Builder to raise carbonate alkalinity without affecting pH. Use Reef Buffer to raise carbonate alkalinity and pH. MAINTENANCE: Reef alkalinity should be maintained at 3-5 meq/L (8-14 dKH). Alkalinity should not be allowed to fall below 2 meq/L. DIRECTIONS: Use 3 g (1/2 level teaspoon) per 150 L (40 US gallons) twice a week. Dissolve in at least 250 mL (1 cup) of freshwater. Check alkalinity every 2 weeks and adjust the amount or frequency accordingly.

Saltwater Aquarium

Mandatory for salt reef and live rock aquariums. The product controls your chemicals and your coral/reef will love you for it.

Pros
  • REEF BUILDER: Increases carbonate alkalinity (KH) with no immediate effect on pH. Reef Builder contains a blend of carbonate sources that do not lower pH, unlike competitor bicarbonate products.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Other product received

I received the item with two different labels as shown in the photos; One label says Reef Builder, as you would expect, and the other label says American Cichlid Salt, which is a completely different product. After checking the contents, it turned out to be cichlid salt. Imagine putting this aluminum iron salt in my reef tank and thinking it increases the alkalinity.

Pros
  • DIRECTIONS: Use 3 g (1/2 teaspoon without lid) per 150 L (40 US gallon) twice a week. Dissolve in at least 250ml (1 cup) of fresh water. Check alkalinity every 2 weeks and adjust amount or frequency accordingly.

Mandatory for Alk: Fish and Aquatic Animals

Reef Builder is the product I use to control the alkalinity in my aquariums. It's worth buying in such a large container just to save a few bucks. It's a good product, dissolves well and the results I get with it are consistent. The only problem I've found is that when it starts to dry out a bit it can stick together and leave a few little white crumbs that end up in the tank. I've never had a problem with them and haven't seen any damage related to small white pieces otherwise it would be a 4x

Pros
  • MAINTENANCE: Reef alkalinity should be maintained at 3-5 meq/L (8-14 dKH). Alkalinity should not be less than 2 meq/l.
Cons
  • Modernity
