Lightweight Travel Tripod

A well designed, lightweight tripod that folds down to a convenient travel size. I will be using this tripod with my Leica CL on a trip to Spain and Portugal. Due to its size and weight, additional weight is required (using the included D-ring for stabilization in windy conditions).

Pros
  • Free for Educational Use
Cons
  • Available in Black Only

Well made and compact but with an annoying flaw

Sturdy and compact travel tripod. However, the lack of a D-ring screw in the plate is a nuisance in the field and may not be fixable. I've tried finding D-rings on the Revain to replace the slotted screw, but the rods are too long to securely attach the plate to the camera. According to someone at B&H, Sirui's patented design means you're sticking with the original screw.

So I have nothing to compare and I wasn't planning on using it for photography. I was drawn to him for hunting in remote areas and needed him to hold my binoculars. At first I was a little nervous about the size and how small and light this thing was. I think it costs less than £2 which is crazy! But the carbon fiber makes it pretty durable, which is great. The reason it didn't work for me was because the center column isn't adjustable, but I should have known that before I bought it. I have…

Extremely light, compact, good fit and finish.

This is a fantastic tripod for the backpacker or hiker who wants to minimize the weight and still carry a decently sized tripod into the backcountry. I've used "desktop" tripods like the UltraPod II or the Manfrotto Pixie Evo Mini in the past, but they just aren't great for stitching multiple panoramas together or adjusting landscape photos at odd angles. This is ideal for landscape photography, long exposure night skies, or telephoto photography. The mechanical parts of this tripod are really…

Exceptionally packaged installation with certain limitations

This tripod is exceptionally light. I bought it specifically for hiking where weight is very important. In the end I decided to keep it for my most important trips but I plan to buy an extra tripod for wider use. This is definitely not your universal setup. The ball head is great and could be for general use, it's basically the legs that come with caution. It's not the most stable as you approach the weight limit. The thing about tripod weight ratings is that they don't really refer to total…
