I've been using this tip for 8 years now. Recently I started not turning the valve off just by turning it to the off position. The valve body eventually fell into disrepair like many others. I ended up buying a different tip and trusting myself I will never switch to another brand or type of torch after using this one. It is very reliable and I will continue to buy it for ten more years.

This is very inconvenient when working overhead or any other location where you need to start the torch with no ignition delay. The gas won't turn on without the valve fully opening before the burner ignites, and you don't know when that's going to happen if you don't hear it. It can be very dangerous, almost as bad as our old one we replaced because it wouldn't turn off. The extra warmth this flashlight provides is far superior to any other flashlight we have, so it's not that bad, just…

This is the 4th turbo torch I own, on average I have to replace it every 3 years because the valve won't close fully, the flame stays on or the propane is leaking. Maybe the inner oil seal needs to be replaced, I didn't disassemble it. Otherwise it's a great burner! I mainly use it for soldering copper fittings, it generates a lot of heat in a short time, no other torch can compare. . Unfortunately it doesn't last long and that's the only reason I give it 3 stars.

I love these little torches. Bought it to replace my old one. I'm a plumber and I use it regularly. My old one had a regulator that didn't shut itself off completely after eight years and I had to remove the Mapp gas cartridge to put out the flames. There are only good things to say about this product. With a little maintenance (using a different torch to melt the solder that's dripping on it, or unscrewing the tip and removing dirt, dust, and lint) this should last ten years, or $6 a year. I…

I had to solder a small hole in the corner of a steel canister. I first tried using MAPP gas with my old Bernzomatic propane torch. It didn't work as expected. The flame was weak and not hot enough to melt the bronze solder. Received the STK-9 Turbo Torch this afternoon, screwed it onto the MAPP gas bottle, got used to the valve setting and off we went.
