Good mat. Expensive for what you get

Over the last 6 weeks I have ordered several 24x36 mats to cover some of the surfaces I use on the build and use to repair RC airplanes. X-acto is the most expensive and not worth the brand premium in my opinion. There are others just as good, just as thick (3mm) and cost 8-10 bucks cheaper. I do not recommend it and will not buy it again. Too many alternatives that are cheaper and just as good.

Pros
  • Self-healing PVC surface resists sharp cuts from X-ACTO knives
Cons
  • I will add later

Good cutting mat

I've only used this mat 3-4 times but it works well. I've never had a "self-healing" mat so wasn't sure what to expect from the self-healing nature of the product, but it works pretty well. I use a mat to trim excess canvas from photo prints on canvas, so I apply quite a bit of pressure with a razor. You can see where the cut was made on the mat and you can feel it, but it seems to be healing fairly well and I don't think previous cuts will affect future cuts. I'm not sure how many cuts you…

Pros
  • Protects work surfaces from cuts and scrapes
Cons
  • No effect

Great mat but needs sharper lines at intervals

I like the smoothness of the mat. The white background with blue lines is easy on the eye. However, all lines on the mat have the same intensity. 5-inch, 10-inch, 15-inch, etc. lines do not have thicker lines, so you need to count very carefully with each measurement. I've been using the mat for a few days now and have been cutting a lot. Fabrics - sometimes up to 4 layers of 100% cotton at a time and I didn't have any edge creases like other rugs. I don't know if it was the surface of the mat…

Pros
  • Non-slip backing keeps cutting area stable
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous
