Xikar Crystal Gel Humidifier For 50 Cigars, Long-Lasting Humidity Control Solution Review

This is not really suited to my humidor. I believe I should have purchased a smaller size. The humidity runs too high for my use.

Very nice product. I use this in conjunction with my electronic humidifier to help keep it from running. It works great. This enables me to leave my humidor when I travel for 30-60 days without maintenance.Without the electronic humidor, you will have a bit less wiggle room, but it's awesome by itself too.

I ordered this product for a small humidor I have containing 20 cigars. The first day I installed it my electronic hygrometer verified 70 degrees humidity. However, after about a week it dropped to 65 degrees. I since then have installed another small bar with sponge to keep the humidity at 70%. I used the Xikar solution so I'm not sure why the humidity dropped after only a week.

Before I bought this humidifier, I was using those packet humidifiers that kept my humidor around 70% and I only have about 15 cigars. Using the Xikar humidifier keeps my humidor at 62% which is still a good range but I would like it to be at 70%.

Steer clear. I have a 50 count humidor. I bought 2 of these and expected "hey if one doesn't do the job, two will for sure!". NO. I installed the first canister - 60% RH. Installed the second canister- 60% RH. 1 month passes (as well as my amazon return window), and still no adjustment in RH. I filled both canisters with Xikar solution, and still at 60% RH. I'm bummed. I'm gonna call amazon on this one I think. Buy something else

Put this in my humidor and now I've got one less worry. It keeps it right at 70% humidity and trust me, 9 months out of the year, that is hard to do in Tucson.

It's good, but it'll need a little help to actually get to that 70% humidity. I had to drop a Boveda 72 pack in my humidor, if not it would not surpass 66%.

This item came with no instructions whatsoever. I wonder if it's just unpack and install inside the cigar box, nothing else to do except to refill when needed to. Just wandering.

Seems to be holding at 68. Small box which holds about 25.however, holding less due to humidification device taking up space. (Too large for pre-routed hole) Make sure box is seasoned.at first mine wasn't and RH wouldn't hold. I finally took a sponge to it.twice. Problem solved. A wet sponge on top of baggy wasn't working and probably would have never worked to season my box as it had been dry for nearly 10 years! I recommend product. Nearly maintenance free. Use their premix glycol solution.

Not completely full of solution. I will purchase again when needed. But will purchase solution along with the humidifier. Thanks.

Tried several times over several 24 hour periods, with and without re-seasoning the humidor. Could not get the humidity up over 52-55% (once the seasoning effect dissipated). I sent it back with the solution and got free shipping and a full refund so thanks to the vendor for that. I've found that the foam 'oasis' disks work better but they have a definite lifespan of maybe 6 months and then they can't take water anymore. A shallow dish with small paper napkin soaked in distilled water works…

I had been struggling with the humidity on my humidor for a while. I was using the standard foam humidifier it came with, then added two Drymistat tubes, and finally added a shot glass with some distilled water in it. The best I could do was 67%. The humidity was being measured with a Xikar digital hygrometer, so I'm confident it's reading accurate. I added one of these Xikar Crystal Gel humidifiers, and got the humidity up to 73-74% within two days, and it's been consistent for about a week…

Works very well, although the claims of "perfect 70% humidity!" should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, it will definitely keep your cigars from drying out, and with a bit of monitoring and care, can definitely settle in right at a value you desire.

Keeps humidity around 68% when fully filled, not sure if this is ideal. Was hoping for over 70% but I've read different things so not sure at this point. Cigars feel fine though.

Ok for a small box, maybe 20 but not for a 50 count. Typical passive humidifier that needs to be watched. Adding more pg solution or less to regulate moisture. It is not self regulating, as claimed.

This gel humidifier went into a very small humidor, attached to the lid. The humidor was "seasoned" perfectly at 68% humidity before this was installed (with the Xikar solution required for this), after installation the humidity dropped to 55 to 56%. No way to get it to work.

Currently using this in a seasoned humidor with under 10 cigars stored in it. Using just this humidifier, never got above 60%. Had to add a second unit to get it to 67%. I also have to add fluid weekly. Just purchased the 100 count unit. We’ll see how that works.

Description clearly says "simply unwrap and place the prefilled humidifier in your humidor", yet box I received states that you must "fill unit before placing in humidor". (I.e., you will also need to buy PG solution.)

Humidor sitting 69-70% using the Xikar solution. Took about a week to get moisture into the walls of the humidor, but is holding steady once it gets there. Going on almost a month with out needing refilled.

This is a no mess easy to use produce that also looks great. just fill it with PG solution and forget (Well at least a while) until the crystals look a bit porous shall we say and then just top it up. looks great for a more modern humidor.
